Nice looking locos. I've got two of the Ferromex reserved. Now I think I'll have to add the BNSF locos to my order. Yes, it's an expensive time to be a modern railroader. :)

Wow I guess the AC version(UP & others) won't be out till around Second Quarter of the year; Fox Valley doesn't even list them????

This is a better shot of the nose. My little Nikon doesn't like motion too much...

    Impressive. Very impressive.

Would you care to comment on the performance? How does it perform in comparison to a Kato 6-axle diesel say, the AC4400CW or any SD70 variant?

The CP unit looks great, however I won't be ordering any because the number boards are incorrect. If there were low number boards, I would be good for 4 units.
I can overlook small details that aren't correct, but number boards are a large detail.

    I agree!

FVM have already said 'No' to doing low numberboards for CP and CSX, so I'll pass as well.

I'll just buy more Kato AC4400CWs instead and renumber them - they're not perfect either, but the low numberboards make them so much easier to live with.

    Mick -

It was kind of a surprise that he stopped by. So, we didn't have any of the units that you spoke of around to help test. The only unit available was a Kato Dash 9. And there didn't seem much of a difference.

Why have a loco that the whole rear 3rd is wrong just because of the number boards? I see 2 options that would give you the correct loco. 1 shave off and fill in the high number boards and put new ones on the nose. 2 get a low numberboard cab from kato and adapt it to go on the fox.

    My 2 cents

My Bad; I meant I was cutting off my timeline at mid '90s, before the GEVO came out. Any AC4400CWs I renumber will correspond to the AC4400CW fleet and not the GEVOs.

You have sugested some interesting ideas though.

    Low number boards

I wonder if the cost of FVM to do the low number board would offset the lost sales. Seems like a lot of guys won't even consider buying a CP Gevo because of the wrong number boards. I guess I wouldn't either if I was modeling the CP.

I don't know what the fuss is all about.

Be it Kato, Atlas, FVM a little thing like this. In about 20 minutes of constructive surgery the problem would be solved.

P.S. That includes "paint drying time":tb-biggrin:

Be careful! FVM says they will be doing both the AC and DC GEVOS.

    Read the ad.

    NGEVO

Some of CSX ES44AC has number boards both ways..

    Here's the low number boards..

    Here's the high number boards.

What does 177 have to do with the CSX ES44AC that has number boards both ways?
Even the photos I link to shows that.

IF FVM does a CSX ES44AC with the high number boards all they need to do is use the correct number.

Their ad that I link to says they will be doing AC and DC GEVOs.

I shouldn't have to do those modifications, then try to match the paint.

Hopefully they have reconsidered their decision not to do the low number boards.

If not, I can live without the FMV locos.

The problem is that it will have the wrong number of vents for the dynamic brake for the CSX version of the AC Gevo, CSX has three like NS, KCS, Ferromex, and IAIS. All of CSX DC Gevos have low number boards so those will not be made correct either. There is also the hanrails, CSX and NS have wide ones. To bad because I really like FVM wheels and boxcars.
