As the bridge was built after the river, some water effects around the base is needed so that the eye cannot see that the bridge is ON the water instead of to the river bed.

Just ordered a sawmill kit from RSLaserkits. It will need a little adaption to fit my area. Can't wait for it to arrive. This is the initial area I had designated.

The kit is the opposite layout to what I was going to build.

Maybe you can scan the diagrams and then "Flop" them and print out, for an easier build.

While I wait for this kit....And wait and wait (Getting too used to Amazon Prime ;) )

Going to give my other fisherman (woman) a catch too. First carving the fish from a very small piece of wood. Then some paint and crushed glitter. A splodge of heavy gloss acrylic get for the place and place the fish in the middle.

When the gel sets I will probably add more gel after a little dry white.

The little details always make it so fun.

Got my RSLaser sawmill kit and started through the instructions. I'll show some pics as I progress.

First deviation. Instead of scribing lines in the ply floor to look like planks (may look OK on smaller scales but in O scale real boards will look better. Used wood dye pens to stain the floor boards. Here they are drying.

Some things really do look better that way. I like to make my own window sashes and smaller details with individual boards to get the same kind of effect.

What are these wood dye pens you are using? sounds interesting.

They are a product by Minwax wood finish stain markers. I use (so far) 230 Early American and 2716 Dark Walnut. Then weathering powders work great for heavier weathering look

Depends on how the machinery is oriented, but on an angle (7 or 8) is more interesting. On the other hand, no. 6 is probably more practical.
