We did see that DD, but we're to busy drooling over the Big Boy. It was more impressive to see how they moved it... one can you tube that..

And Friday evening we spent time getting some trtains running around the CMB! 4 at once, to be exact. Two trains keeping away from each other on both mainlines, I'll post videos later after I get them uploaded and patched together into a decent form.... Did spend some time replacing the tender trucks on CMB 17 with Spectrums, which made for better pickup. Also installed the Econami gcav17 picked up at House of Trains into his other Mike, the Milw 8505, and I am impressed with the performance and sopunds on this little guy!

Yesterday I started to go crazy on the layout. It was time to let go. First thing to go was all the buildings. Nicely packed away and waiting to see the light again. Then it was all those dusty trees. I need to learn a trick for keeping them clean by the way. Any suggestions would be helpful. Next I started to pull up track. Never really paid much attention, but man we can accumalete some track as the years go by!
In picture 525 (using the last three digits of pic name) all of this will go. That 4x5 board has been around since 2004. First for my son, then later for the first CM & B. That whole thing is going away.

This is what used to be Balderdash. It had a nice little yard, but, curved switches can suck when they are a to tight of radius.
    20160103_191537.jpg
The next image is of the link between the 4x5 and Balderdash. This used to have some fascinating action goon here in CM&B version 1. Tunnels, high bridges, and trains rolling over each other.
    20160103_191547.jpg
The next section will be the only piece I keep on the new layout. It stretches 7 1/2 foot down into a ten foot staging yard that will be adapted a bit to turn it into a small yard. I will have to do some repair on the trestles. And find new homes for the clowns and Mr Death. ( remnants of my kids' practical joke)

And here is one last video, bad as it is, of the last run of the CM&B from my smert fone. Badland NP will have a collage at some point.

I hope you all enjoyed this layout as much as I did. Well until I got bored with it just running in circle and mostly out of sight. And things getting stuck out of sight...

And here is a collage of short clips of various locos and trains running around the layout. There are 4 different sound chips in use here, Loksound, Econami, MRC and the spectrum K4s. I guess we will see what the next iteration of the CM$B i$ like$$$$$$!

The main teardown is complete. Pay no mind to the backdrop. It was a test to see if that looked ok. I will improve that. Next up. Clean up.

This must be where the "Carnage" part of the company name applies....

Today I got started piecing things back together. The first picture is of a mostly finished bench for Balderdash. I still need to fill that gap to the left.
The second picture shows how I made this part sectional. The left side is the horseshoe peninsula. Up front us Balderdash. I am actually looking forward to the next part.

And now the gap is ready. Next up, the scenic division, but I gotta do some serious cleanup before that.. uploadfromtaptalk1452379707701.jpg

It's amazing how fast it goes when you actually have a plan to go off of. This will be another scenic portion of the layout. uploadfromtaptalk1452456966829.jpg

Looks like you were able to recycle quite a large amount of lumber.

Waste not, want not. My grandma taught me that. She was around for the great depression working a farm. I reuse anything I can. Saves money, time and I just like doing that..

Yup. I have lumber which has been used in a couple of layouts and modules, which goes back a couple of decades. Nobody can see it when underneath, so old paint, holes, etc, don't matter. And withthe price, plus often less than adequate quality of lumber these days.....
