Nice vid and glad you got that figured out. Here's a trip down memory lane from the older version of your layout. Will dig for the videos later. This one and the last are the Hiawatha catching up to the local passenger run. An overview of the yard area in 2012, which has been changed. A nice pic of bridges and Milw! A detail of the old bridge, now gone. It's been a while since I took these pics and finally I get them up here! My bad.
OK, but this video set are form 2012, the old setup. https://www.youtube.com/bOdYHTfC3qg The high bridge that was 4 ft over the floor. And your junction bridge, And a funny bit.
Mile high bridge on the C.M &B.: This is the high bridge badland has written about. It was actually exciting the first few times a loco went over it. I was nervous about derailments or someone bumping into the layout at the wrong time. It was always good for a photo op! Dang, I miss that bridge...
Just a note here. It's been awhile since I posted anything here. I recently learned just how much fun it is (n't) to move a large layout from one side of the basement to the other. I eventually had to split it in two to get it moved. But what I did was mangled a switch, (needed to go anyway) Changed the levelness of my layout. Forced minor imperfections into the framework. Discombobulated a couple other tracks. And learned I need bigger wheels under my posts. All in all, it went back together easy, but I am still working out little issues here and there. Keep an eye out, cuz badland NP will be here for a few days, and I am sure we will be goofing off with trains.
At least you were able to move it. So many folks cannot, and their only option is complete dismantle, then rebuild from scratch.
Today some of my maintenance crew saw this very unusual sight on the mainline today. Boy were they confused when they saw this Pennsy steamer cone up, and scream like a banshee! The guys were not sure what was going on and ran to the yard for an explanation. Rest assured all was ok, but the yard master said they need to pay attention to there memos in the morning. It was a loco on a return trip to Pennsylvania after some sweet talker convinced them to bring some kind of super mechanic to the Black Hill & Northern Pacific.. But there is some confusion as to what happened to the fourth car that was supposed to be the train.... Never can trust those Nerf Herders.......... Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
This here is badland NPs ' future Yellowstone project. It's been fun running locos together. And causing trouble on the line. It seems I am still taking care of track issues after splitting and moving the layout. But don't worry. It won't be long and it will be all different again.. Yay!! More demo work!! We could only get 48 cars on her. One grade has a 270 degree horseshoe, the other grade has a triple S curve. Pretty impressive for being 2% in either direction. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Happy New year Everyone!!! That dispatcher is currently on his way home to Montana. Lets all wish him a safe trip. The two of us (badlandNP and I) spent New Years eve geeking out in Council Bluffs / Omaha looking around some steam locomotives and a new Hobby Store. FEF 814 at the Rails West museum is a nice sight. It is in pretty rough shape. Lots of rust, cylinders are rotted out. And is pulling the wrong tender. The C.B. & Q. has a 10 wheeler (#915) there and its in just about the same shape. Then we made our way across the misery river to check out 4023 up on the hill. that sure was a pretty site. Next we went searching for new hobby shops. And alas! I found a new home away from home! Nothing but Trains, a House Of nothing but trains. Has been in business since 1938 (?) and now run by a grandson. They had everything I was looking for and things I wasn't. So new years eve turned out to be a great day! Next up? Some deconstruction on the C.M.& B. I have been thinking about this for quite some time now. There are just to many little flaws that I don't like, and its kinda boring. I may keep some sections of it, It all depends on what I can achieve. Since moving my layout, I gained four or five feet going east-west. North -south the remained the same. So stay tuned....
