I think that the tower was originally built by the Pere Marquette. The tower was wood, and most towers built after 1947 (when C&O took over) were brick. I'm not sure, but since the Tower name was Trowbridge, that probably dates it back to PM, since C&O usually called towers cabins, and gave them letter designations like CA.

Order 10 May 25, 1970 - Ubly is a small town in the "thumb" part of Michigan. Never been over there - actually, there isn't much there! The old Pere Marquette station at Ubly was moved to Caro, restored, and I believe it's a resturant. I heard that there is an 0-4-0 engine there, also.

Any hint as to origin of the name "Ubly?"

Seems to me I should have a Michigan Central flimsy from Caro. Did the PM also run through there?

    Found this info about Ubly:
Alfred Pagett opened the first store here in 1865 and the settlement became know as Pagett's Corners. Mr. Pagett renamed it Ubley after his native town in England, but the depot sign misspelled it Ubly, and it has so remained.
    From this website: http://www.infomi.com/city/ubly/

I don't think the PM went through Caro.

Those town names can be fascinating. Many leave me wondering of their origins.

I'll try to get a few more scanned shortly. Then possibly some PM flimsies.

Interesting- I usually asscoiate a Union Station, with a major metropolitan area. NYC, KC, LA, Seattle, etc. Is this possibly close to DC?
