I'd say they were going for Alco 244 smoke but it just wasn't dense enough... the poor things tried with all their might...
Very impressive! Was there much humidity? If there was, I wonder if some of that exhaust was possibly a bit of steam?
Naw, was dry here, as usual in the winter. Caught another one, but this one was just noisy. Sounded like a failing 'test cock' on one cylinder, if they still have those on these new diesels. And then this cold one turned interesting, over at Wibaux.
Sometimes you just have to go get a train, no matter the temp! The fingers were a might chilled after this video!
And now, 2 weeks later, the snow is gone, the river ice broke up and it is 60F outside! Another X train with nary a noisy wheel!
Caught a few more trains, as usual.... This was over at Huntley This was here yesterday, And a few days earlier, And from a friend over Livingston way, awaiting disposition. I worked on every one of these at some point back in 95 and 96.
Yeah. But those units worked hard for many years, and then got a 30 year extension after we rebuilt them at LRC.
Spent a quiet, peaceful 40 minutes waiting for this train to arrive at Glendive's west end from the new "Yellowstone" siding by Fallon. First video with the new cheap camera, seems ok!
Our 40's headed east yesterday morning for Beach returning 4 hours later. I caught them departing early,
Hello Putting a sock or a piece of foam over the microphone will knock down the wind noise. Just saying Pep
This new camera is a small handheld with an overly sensitive cult in Mike. Great on a calm day. Am looking into a different new camera though . . .
A couple of cool units landing here lately. MRL 4312 looking a bit under loved, An ex-Milw MP15AC setting here since very early Sat a.m. And an ex-BAR GP38 along with it.
Hello For instance, if using a cell, you can find the mic. I am thinking something like 1" x 1/2 foam with tape on each end covering the mic could work. Got nothing to lose, and will have an answer pronto, the camera has a good picture color & clarity. Pep
And today I caught this departing oil can heading east, probably to Fryburg, ND, for a refill. Which is an interesting place! It is an upload site for Bakken Crude and looks like a model RR from the air! Here's the video,
Just took a closer look at that "layout" - pretty good track plan for a model! Something of a folded dogbone, double-track, plenty of sidings, and a few spurs, and a big industry. Someone's playing with some big toys! Like that nice, long, long tanker train... You just got that big kid inside of me dreaming again...
