Magnat, find the time & get on up to the club, any Sat you find us all there.Bring your ICE pass. train too! Sandro, Ditto on what Hemi said
I am not sure the ICE would be worthy to run on your track, it is short and would get lost in the scenery I have a couple of photo's of the ICE but I dont know how to post them up and I don't think it would be necessary to have a Rail Images account for 3 Photo's
I have a fondness for passenger traffic so my layout sees the following Passenger Traffic: GN - Empire Builder (ABA F7) GN - Coast Pool Train - (Steam H4) NP - North Coast Lmt.- (ABA F3) UP - Portland Rose - (ABA F3) UP - City of Portland - (AA E8) UP - Coast Pool Train - (Steam 4-8-2) SP - Daylight (Steam) - (Steam GS-4) SP - Cascade. (AA PA) I've taken some liberties because as I've reversed the roll of Seattle and Portland in that the Empire Builder and North Coast Lmt ran the name trains to Seattle and serviced Portland via a mixed train on the SP&S. On MY layout however the name trains come to Portland . The Shasta Daylight never opperated to Portland with a GS4 however GS4's were still pulling the Daylight in Calif. in the timeframe of my layout (1952-54). They add a bit of color to the layout and I like to watch them roll thru the scenery. Typically I run 6-7car trains as that's the longest passenger siding I have. All ABOARDDDDD..... Kevin
My main modeling interest is "modern western." How modern? Well, modern enough to include the Zephyr, UP streamliners and Santa Fe currugateds and green heavyweights. Yessir... modern to the max!!
I'm modern, so I run Amtrack behind the Kato P-42. Since getting a Richmond Controls flashing unit in a Kato Material Handling Car, these are fun to watch coming and going. I don't do any passenger switching on my layout, but in another era, it would be fun to do a big city station, especially with the new Walthers Union Statin kit. I have surveyed my layout and can't find a place to use it as US, but it could be a post office or government building somewhere in my downtown.
Passenger trains are my main passion. For me freight trains only provide moving scenery to complement the passenger trains. A list of the trains I have modeled so far. MKT/Frisco Texas Special (heavyweight) MKT/Frisco Texas Special (streamlined) KCS Southern Bell ATSF Texas Chief ATSF Ranger Burlington (BRI) Sam Houston Zephyr SP Sunset Limited SP Argonaut SP (T&NO) Sunbeam SP (T&NO) #310/311 a doodle bug with two trailers that ran between Houston and Kenedy. I have a B&O-Chessie Torpedo Tube GP9 that pulls a lone coach, as it was in the 1970s. How the mighty have fallen.
I own quite a bit of passenger cars. Kato burlington sets A,B,C 5 concor burlington cars a set of old trix heavyweights a bachmann doodlebug two of the roundhouse 30 foot oldies Kato Amtrak IV superliners set A a kato RDC in Santa fe I really wish someone would make some other RTR passenger cars, but my taste in roadnames runs in the less popular. I expect I'll have to use my own ingenuity if I want a IC or GM&O passenger set. The most recent zephyr set was tempting, but I really have no need for it.
Can someone post a full length pic of Kato's "Swallow" bullet train so I can drewl till mine arrives? Thanks!
Ok, Looks Like I will have " Swallow" My Pride and Bash the Heck out of my Credit Card and Order a Swallow Aswell, it looks Tasty..
I now know 5 women who have gone goo goo over it. I'll have to redesign phase II of the Grey and Grandure to accomodate it.. Ya know, they are like puppies. Definite "cute factor"
