This week I am going to work on getting the window frames done for the showcase cars. Been putting it off long enough.
Today I decided it was time to get on the Showcase car window frames. I started by drawing a frame on paper.
I then used thick clear styrene and cut small pieces which I layed over the drawing and traced with a knife, then cut each one out.
And heres the first test fit. Before I glue I am going to clean the windows really good, and outline the inside rim with black.
I know little about the freedom train. Seeing it through your eyes as you build a replica, wets my appetite to know more. Wish I could of seen it out crisscrossing America. Conflicting work schedules and family had me tied up. Nice work on the windows. Wow!
I was in 4th grade when I saw it in Oakland, and the memory is still very vivid! I will say, I have learned more about it in the last few years then ever before, getting ready for this project. I hope, for the sake of younger railfans, that at some point in time another project like this will travel America. Lets hope Ross can get the funding he needs for the Yellow Ribbon Express.
