The end that will couple to the Kato sleeper will be fine the way it is. No huge gap on this end. :)

Still have to paint the roofs, and then some touch-ups on the black, and then on to the next car. :)

Looking good Jerry! I know what you mean on letting a project sit for a year. Last summer I finally finished a Iowa Interstate GP38-2 after it had sat for five years.

Found this old thread and thought I’d add that I have completed the entire train! It’s a mix of my cars and the Lowell Smith limited run cars. Other changes since thread started is going with the Kato GS4, doing new circus wagon containers, smaller fork lift, and a few other things. It’s as close to the real train as I possibly could make it. Still a few minor details to add, but I love this train and couldn’t ask for a better model of this historic train. 6311E5FD-B34D-4DE3-A56D-A1EACFBA260C.jpeg

Good comparison before/after how much better the Kato model looks with lights opened up with round file. 61AD29FB-723E-4129-9434-BE750CDB8540.jpeg

Wow! What an excellent build thread! I am going to have to check it all out, having some time here and there.

I missed the actual train, 60 miles is HUGE when you are a kid.But read everything I could find about it and watch video's and so on. Very nicely done! And that little trick with the headlights, great!

I have this on order and am actually pretty excited about it. Hopefully they will follow through with the T&P 2-10-4 610. I’ve got the HO model, and it’s beautiful. 3F59CB36-C159-4C69-9918-782EF8A30C10.jpeg

Heres a look at the ‘finished’ rear cars. Still a bit of touching up, diaphragms, rear cars going to get marker lights and air hoses and backup lights and drumhead. Pie car is getting vent fans still on both sides by sliding doors. And then they really will be ‘finished’. 9C811272-2308-4F25-A00E-6A90A0779605.jpeg 3D1B7414-A017-423F-A3B8-33461DFBC148.jpeg 29319F73-A56B-41C2-8F94-B5B9C46544F8.jpeg A31AD0FA-7121-43FE-B48B-2B98C75AE548.jpeg
