I have to weather these two log cars for the club layout. Any suggestions? I plan to do a general, varied rust color. These cars are not functional. They just sit on a siding and (hopefully) look good. Also, anyone know the model manufacturer of these cars? Thanks.
Here are two flatcars I'm working on. The prototypes were used to transport Boeing 737 fuselage sections from Wichita, KS, to the Boeing plant at Renton, WA, for final assembly. I found a 1:100 model of a B-737-800; it's slightly undersized, but not badly so. Still a lot of work to do. I'm negotiating with my wife to sew up some padded tarps to go along the sides of the fuselage.
Very nice, but I thought they shipped them as entire sections? (or is that modellers licence?) Might see to if you can wrangle up some decals for taped winders.
That's a very neat airplane!! Boeing ships some neat loads around these parts over the road as well. My workbench has my very first new Athearn switcher getting detail parts and my very first LED installed into my very first cab mount beacon.. ..it took me 5 hours.. ..being careful paid off, it works and looks awesome! :tb-cool:
Flashwave - Boeing today transports entire B-737 fuselages by rail. The split fuselage shipments were normal back in the early 1990s for sure. I'm not doing the entire fuselage method since it would look totally ridiculous going around my small layout. As stated, I'll be modeling the padded tarps that cover the sides, including the windows/doors - that's why no windows on what you see right now.
As promised, here is a pic of the GP9 I'm working on. The MOP acquired several GP9's from the T&P when merged. The main difference is the dynamic brake. This is one of three models that had dynamics on the MOP. The ex C&EI GP35's and the coal '40s where the other two. It will be ready for decals in a couple of days when the paint completely dries.
Its been a while since I have finished anything, but here are some cars I just recently fininished. This is a Stewart 14 Panel Hopper Car, Painted Black and Lettered with Herald King Decals. This is a Front Range Riveted Side ACF Double Door 50' Boxcar. The prototype is an ex-NKP boxcar that was repainted and renumbered by the N&W by adding a 2 to the NKP Number. Painted boxcar red with Champ Decals. I am doing the NKP boxcar in the same class and it should be finished soon. For you Great Northern Guys, an Intermountain 50' PS1 with Cushion Underframe added and painted with my forumula of Jade Green & BN Green Mix for Glacier Green. Car Lettered with MicroScale Decals. Thanks for Looking!
Now that Photobucket has finally fixed my problems with my account, here are some cars that I recently finished. This is the second CGW Airslide I did, the first had yellow lettering and this one is painted aluminum with black lettering. Eastern Car Works Airslide Kit lettered with Oddballs Decals. This is a NYC Enterprise Covered Hopper, built from an Eastern Car Works Kit, painted gray and lettered with Champ Decals. This is a GN Plug Door Boxcar, built using a 50' Front Range ACF Single Door Riveted Side Box Car Kit, substituting an 8' Plug Door from the Scrap Box and painted Glacier Green and lettered with Microscale Decals. Thanks for looking!
I'm still busy with H0n3 car kits. One box car from TOMALCO and a reefer from ALAMOSA CAR SHOPS. Wolfgang
Well, I don't regularly post in these threads but.... Last week I did my first Decoder install on a classic Athearn BB SD40-2. This week, It's RIP week. I've got a number of cars that need a little TLC to get coupler heights corrected or even couplers replaced.
I just finished these freight cars this week. This is an Athearn PS 5344 Boxcar Kit, replaced the sill steps with A-line metal ones. Lettered with Oddballs Decals. This is an Athearn Railbox Kit, replaced the stock door with a Details West #168 Pullman Standard Door, A-line Sill Steps and lettered with Microscale Decals. This is an Atlas 6-Bay ACF Covered Hopper, Painted Aluminum and lettered with Oddballs Decals. Thanks for looking! Rick
I'm almost finished with my GP9 repaint. I need to weather and add windows to complete the project, but in the mean time it can run some revenue miles.
I've started with another car kit from TOMALCO. This time a stock car. This kit comes without trucks and coupler. I will use Kadee trucks and coupler. If they only would have color coded the strips. Wolfgang
Very Happy. I got three boxes of Blueprint Series SP&S heavyweights. So far their more fun then RTRs and rebuild to work IHCs.
Ahh, On my bench is two torn down chainsaws but no HO train stuff, looks like I need to get busy, looking at your guys projects is getting me motivated, THANKS:tb-biggrin:
