I think you are off to a great start. Are you planning on lighting up all of your class lights? If so, how? You've peaked my curiosity.
Here's what I'm working on... This is an early Kato F3 A that I'm switching over to Kadee (MTL) couplers.
Thats looks pretty cool. I just bought one off eBay, but I don’t know yet what I’m going to do with it, so I’ll be watching to see how yours comes out. I found this on the internet and would love to figure out how to do this. biggrin: BNSF Self Propelled diesel electric crane (BN 975403) on the Marceline Sub at MP 282 - MO,on July 28, 2008.
Johnny, The BNSF has one of those working out of NTW. It's fun to listen to the dispatchers trying to find room for "the diesel electric" as they call it.
Thanks Johnny , I would think that would be fairly easy to duplicate as the cars are pretty standard and the crane could pass with a small factory made as well. Thant would be cool. Thanks , Mike
Here is the progress so far on the ATSF Crane to go with the tender I put on Sunday Photo's. I know it is not perfect but close, for me, is good. I used some old acrylics I had on it and it just would not dry so I put Polly Scale on top and that totally hosed it up so I had to drag out the media blaster and blast all the paint off and start over with Polly Scale yellow. I will let it dry till tomorrow and paint the blue. Boom is also painted. Mike
Well not work bench exactly, but I am working on adding my old DCC system to the layout. It will have a switch so I can switch between DC and DCC. Its the old MRC Command 2000 system. Good enough for a start -up system......Mike
Just knee deep in an Amtrak cascade in N scale. Wing are finished, and started painting. still a few cars short of a second train. Hope to find more cars soon.
I am currently working on painting Chehalis Western #776 and caboose #598 for Frank Telewski. He was one of the co-authors of the Weyco Vail-McDonald book. He asked liked my work well enough that he wanted me to paint one for him so he can do presentations on the RR. I am also putting together another 6 CWWR log cars and another 3 NP log cars. I think that will put my count up to almost 70 log cars. Anyone think I need more?
What's THAT doing here? What is this THING on my bench? It's utterly humungous, how could anyone model a RR with something that large! I really wonder...I got this Atlas HO APHS well car and an HO DCC/Sound equipped Intermountain GEVO just to see what the dark side is all about. The models are gorgeous, but then again, they should be. There's no excuse for imperfection when a model is practically large enough to sit on. The N scale Athearn HS with a GMM upgrade kit actually looks just as good, but intermodal and possibly tank cars in N are almost equivalent in detail and overall visual impact IMO. I don't think one can say the same for anything else. But still...! It's just so, so, so BIG! All I can do right now, if so inclined, is a 1x15 foot HO shelf layout with maybe 3 tracks and some turnouts. It's all the trouble involved in adding sound, details and proper lighting to N scale engines that is getting to me lately. Admittedly I don't have the opportunity for an N scale layout either, other than my Unitrack test loops, as we do hope to move once certain issues with our home are dealt with. Unless HO sound is much better than N sound, and I mean a lot better, I suspect I will part with the large models. BTW, I'm still acquiring and building in N, this is just a mini trial separation! Richard.
Just finished decoder installs on a Model Power Pacific and a Bachmann Spectrum F7 A/B pair. First time I've had to pull out the Dremel (on the F-units). Much fun. I hope the friends I did them for enjoy them as much as I did the challenge.
Just stripped a Life Like GP20 for a US Army switcher. I may make a GP9, too. Right now I plan to paint it Santa Fe red.
Now that’s interesting, I’ve been trying to get mine done for over a year now. It’s been one problem after another. I’m about ready to send it out and have it done for me. about all i got done is a decoder installed. biggrin:
More vehicles shrunk down from HO scale - a '55 Cadillac, a '50 Olds, a '48 Ford Coupe and a '36 Ford sedan.
