I'd be knockin' on wood, throwin' salt over my shoulder (while facing the layout!), huntin' a 4-leaf clover, and who knows what else after tempting fate like that!
Finished up the stairs and deck at the 4-8-4 in THE RAILROAD PARK. I want to stain or paint it brown. THE WIFE wants to leave it all white ! Her and I may need to arm wrestle to see who wins.. .
Bachmann, there must be a name synonymous to it. Working on it. No...I can't use that here. The start of the bad feelings I have toward the maker. Hmmm! She sits where she deserves to sit. Sigh Leave the steps white for now. Age has a funny way of turning things yellow. Then, then you can weather it.
You could do progressive weathering over time. Right now it's a brand new coat of paint on the stairs. A little later, a little dirt/wear shows on the stair treads, then on the hand rails, then finally on other stuff.
Oh my...what have I gotten myself into ???? My 'All Scale Miniatures' came by mail yesterday. I knew I was in trouble when the envelope was no bigger then a standard size letter envelope !! Below is the contents: ~ the pencil is for reference ~ (left to right) 4) blue mesh top trash cans and 1) black 55 gal drum with 'trash' in it 4) blue 55 gallon plastic drums with 1) Mailbox on post that got lost in there 1) Green oxygen tank and 1) black acetylene tank 2) mail boxes on posts 4) red fire hydrants 4) gray rooftop HVAC units 2) blue USPO drop boxes 1) white refrigerator ~~ I am not sure my 'Optivisor' w/2x jewelers lope is gonna help !! .
Don't you just love the challenges of N scale. Aren't you glad this isn't Z scale. No offense intended
Kool detail parts. Can't wait to read about you painting and installing them along with the pictures. It should be rather entertaining. Rick is right (oh it hurt to say that) about loving the challenges of N scale
Luckily most of them are printed in the right colors. Fire Hydrants are already red. Post office drop boxes are already dark blue (just need the raised post office logo painted white. The plastic 55 gal drums are blue. The mesh trash can are blue. The refrigerator is already white. The welding tanks are already green and black. I think I just need to paint the rural mail boxes and the posts. The rooftop HVAC units could go up in the gray color they are and look OK. BUT YES...'planting' all these small parts is going to be the challenge. Pictures when done......
George, I know you like challenges but let me remind you of one you do not want to tackle and it has to do with the white stairs at the Park 4-8-4 and their color. I have been married to my wife for 60.5 years now and you know what I have leaned, oh yes it took some time, and that is THE WIFE is always right. LOL, at least for a while ! Hey dude, don't think you want to arm wrestle !
They WHERE white...for awhile. They are now wood brown. There is another saying. "Sometimes it's better to ask for forgiveness...then to ask for permission." They can always be painted white again if THE WIFE threatens to throw me out to the doghouse...
If yopu add an N scale guy walking away with dirty paint rollers and brushes, you can always blame him!! He "gremlined" last night and must've painted it! Really, dear! I left some chicken out here and he must've eaten some!! Honest!
GONE FISHING ! I was going to work in THERR RV today. Got up at 7...made coffee. Read Trainboard. Started the AC In THERR RV at 9. At 9:45 my son (who lives in Round Mountain Nevada) calls to say he is in town and he and his wife are camping at the local lake. "Hey dad want to come by and go fishing?" Never miss a good fishing invite !! Ate breakfast at 10:00 and went out to get the Igloo cooler and shut down the AC in THERR RV. Temp was perfect inside to work and play. *sigh* Did I mention >>> Never miss a good fishing invite !! Fished from noon to 7:30. Fishing was blah. I caught the only fish. An 8 inch catfish..... THERE is another saying. " A bad day fishing is better then a good day at work !" .
