Joe, those are from the 'Forest in a Flash' kits. Very realistic, easy and fun to make. You can, depending on how big you make them get anywhere from 15-25 trees from each 'kit' for about $8.
Just to verify, I spoke to a gentleman @ L-L earlier today. He sent a listing of the upcoming announcements and also a separate e-mail that refers to the GP-60: That's the info I have at this time direct from L-L.
It doesn't surprise me that they got the TM early from IM, as IM themselves were pretty loose lipped with their announcement information with that model. I would think that if LL were concerned about delay and other info as to not release the info to the US public, why would they so easily leak this info thru a German distributor? Sounds like they need to do some leak plugging.
Rick, I'm right there with you man! I've only done 3 MAJOR unique N scale loco kitbashes in the past couple of years and they are all now commercially available or are coming soon (at least as sister units)! A brief recap: I also made a GP60M and it was a MASSIVE undertaking! True, these aren't being produced (yet), but the LL units will sure make it much easier to bash one! I've also recently started on 2 new GP60 shells that were going to be standard-cab SP and SSW units. Not sure what I'll do now! Then, there's the SD75I. Sure, this particular 70 series incarnation has not been announced (yet), but how far behind the first relase of 70M's from Kato can it be? Lest we forget the massive undertaking of making this SD40T-2 from a resin shell, only to have IM produce them a short time later. An interesting side note is that IM produced the same road number, only mine represents the post repaint version of an actual unit: Oh, well! Russ
Could always be worse Russ, you could have bought brass instead of kitbashing. Then again maybe you have as much in sweat equity as the brass units cost? Great work on your kitbashing!!
Thanks, William and Dave! ac60cw, I don't want to think what the true cost in blood, sweat and cussing these all were! OC, I'm afraid to build anything at the rate all these new announcements are coming! Although, I would really love an F45! Russ
I can confirm the release of the GP60's in N from Life Like. We got our Advance Reservation sheets this morning from our Australian agents - and we frequently get the announcements here in Oz before they're made in the USA. Expected delivery is November 2004
When I got my GP20s I became quite a Life Like fan. Further additions of an AB E-6 and ABBA FA2/FB2 convinced me LL has a desent product. I'm glad to see more GPs, good era for me. Of course, I want to see them re-do the F40PH cowl unit seems it would be a no brainer for sales volume.
William This rumor has been around since roughly Christmas of last year. VARR will be happy when it comes....
