I know Skibbe, lasheup, and Bill Denton tend to use masking tape for their passenger stuff. Seemed like an easy application. I'm just late to the game though!
The roofs are still not attached or detailed yet. The time to do this I think is well worth it. Really gives the car life.
This side had more shades/blinds then curtains. Inside was a kitchen and long bar for the crew to eat at. Going to have a crewman in the doorway, and a couple fans will go on each side of the car between the windows and sliding door.
Awesome! It sure does make a huge difference. Looks practically prototypical! :tb-biggrin::thumbs_up:
The CB&Q GP40 is keeping me busy now and I've already started gathering things for the B&M Bicentennial GP38-2, and since 1976 is my era, I could justify it. I remember seeing the AFT come through my home town. I don't remember going through the display cars, just watching trackside. Yes, I was only a few years old, but the image is burned into my mind and I have loved Bicentennial locomotives and cars ever since. They did not use the GS4 however in New England to pull the AFT, they used a Reading Steam Locomotive.
Are you going to try and close couple the cars? They look great, but the seperation kind of takes away. The curtains are great as well.
Any closer and the couplers interfere with the swing of the trucks. I am going to install diaphrams on the cars to help fill the 'gap' in some.
I've been having a very busy time at work!! Thought I would have the cars done in a week, and I just finished the third one tonight......one to go. Speaking of go....where does the time go? LOL
I actually JUST now glued the last curtain in!!!! I have to run to Lowes for some things, so the glue can dry for now, and when I get back I will get some pictures or a video.
