Here's the image resized, plus a copy with your car side overlaid. I'll do the rest tomorrow (really, I really will... really!). Note that the car length and window spacing is different, but the window size is pretty darn close.

Oh, one more thing. Can you give me the measurements for your car's window openings? I'll need that to make the template. Thanks!

Hmmm. Tried 2x4mm but I can't get it to match up with your photo. Assuming your photo isn't stretched or squished in any way, what it looks closer to is 3/16" by 1/8" (and that matches pretty closely to an old N-scale heavyweight coach I've got). I'm going to test it at that size and put it in my coach to see how it looks. I'll post photos of how it turns out. Meanwhile, if you could get a more precise measurement, that'd be great.

Here's the results of the test. I printed it on my inkjet printer in grayscale mode, then cut out one of the curtains (only the curtain part, not the black part that represents the interior of the train). I then took off the roof of my car, used a tiny piece of clear tape to install it, then returned it to the car. It's immediately easy to see how using a photo or drawing of curtains can be loads more realistic looking than just cutting some white paper. I think I'll do up my whole consist like this.

Wasn't able to upload the PDF file to work with, so PM me and I'll email it to you. Simply print it out and cut it up. If the size doesn't work correctly, let me know and I'll make some adjustments and/or different sized versions.

That looks great! Yeah, big improvement over just adding cutout paper. :) My email is jerrydebene@hotmail.com. I think the size you have would work good. I'll print after I get the PDF file and let you know how it works. Really appreciate all the work you have done on this project and I know it will be a great addition to the American Freedom Train.

Today I was able to get the windows, (Clear Styrene), added to all the cars and the body mounted coupler holes drilled and couplers installed. Once the glue holding the windows in place dries good I will be able to start adding the excellent looking curtains Matt sent me. :)
Then the roofs can be glued in place and then I will start with the roof top detailing, then paint the roofs. :)

After printing out the file of the real AFT window curtains done by Matt, next came the fun part.....cutting the tiny N Scale curtains out and glueing them inside the car. :)

All I got done tonight was one side of one car! LOL This is a very time consuming task....even harder when you have a 2 yr old grandson that wants to help. (But I do Love the little guy!) My first impression is this is going to look great! Thanks Matt! :)

Close-up. Once all the curtains are in, I will put a black background inside the cars which should highlight the curtains even more. Some may remain clear with a person in the window to break it up some. :)

I guess my plan will be to do a side every night this week. If I get on a good roll I may get one car a night done. :)

I went ahead and finished this one car since I have the house to myself for the moment. :)
This is with a dark piece of paper behind the windows to show what the dark background will do to highlight the curtains.

Always glad to help. Hey, maybe you could take a photo of a finished car next to one with no curtains to give a good example of before and after?
