Resist You might find some liquid Resist that is a bit cheaper, but I'm not sure. I can check on the price of the stuff we use at work. Joe MTL
I'd be interested in the liquid resist as well. I talked to a few people who have professional equipment and use a spray on film, but say you need special lights to develop it that cost ~$80 a bulb. I have seen rolls of film online that look the same, but they are used for sandblasting images on glass. So I don't want to waste money just to find it is different. I have been through 8 rolls of the Micro Mark stuff in the last few months, but I'm like a kid with a new toy right now.
Don't liquid resist need to be soft baked at 100C for 1 minute before UV exposing the resist? We use liquid resist at work, but the manufacturer is very proud of his product, at over $600 a gallon.
I have seen it online that comes in a can like spray paint, but I don't know enough about it to try. The one guy I talked to is Bob Knight of Traincat. Some of his HO & N scale items: http://www.traincat2.com/models.htm Check out these N scale bridges! http://traincat2.com/images/models/1200501A.jpg http://texnrails.com/images/photos/img_7199.jpg Anyways he uses some automated system he bought from people who made circuit boards. He made it sound like brass sheets go in one side on come out etched on the other. He also said it can etch one layer, then respray with film with a new image and etch again to get muti-layer etches. Whatever acid he uses is in a pressurized tank to keep it even.
I'd love to see these made in N scale, I'd buy heaps of them. Very good looking model, fine detail especially with the brass parts, kinda like the models my company is in the process of producing.
By the way, TrainCat actually bills a couple of their N scale electric transmission towers as suitable for Z as well. Randy
Sweet!!! Wow, so that's what it's supposed to look like!! Very cool, great job...now I just got to get these finished!! Joe
Actually, only one tower Randy. It is a 90ft Z-Scale or 60ft N-Scale. Stock #1000101 http://www.traincat2.com/m_tower.htm Regards Bob
