All such signs in that area are long, long gone. But they were indeed round poles. Something I had completely forgotten.
So I made a jig to simplify assembly, making it super fast to make the crossbucks. I used round tube which at .025" scales to a 5.5" diameter post, but at least the posts are round now.
When I made the first batch with the incorrect square posts, I could hold them flat, but the round posts want to move around and I end up soldering the crossbuck and number of tracks placard rotated around the post. With the jib, I can knock down 4 signs in 1 minute or less. Better accuracy, great repeatability, and easy to do!
Rob, I know that guy that cleans track if your laser can raster the flats on the round tube, maybe easier to place for solder?
