Still a vastly unfinished scene. Much more to be added... First time using static grass & supertrees. As it begins to come together I am wondering, will it pass for Wisconsin in the early fall? Ta! :tb-sad:
Neal, I cannot comment on it looking like Wisconsin, but it sure looks good to me. Great job! Michael
Certain parts of Wisconsin are heavier into Pine Trees, but that looks like it could pass for Milwaukee and surrounds. Probably up north a bit past Madison. Just to be certain your viewers know its the Badger State, I suggest painting some figures with either Wisconsin or Green Bay Packer jerseys, wearing cheeseheads. Also to consider would be some cows and maybe an angry group of striking union govt workers, although that would only work if the layout is set this month.
Looks pretty good to me. Maybe some more pine trees, but the WC loco gives you a pretty good idea of the location.
This is how I remember it as a young man. We would go down to the depot in Ripon to catch the train into Milwaukee.
Duely noted on the pine trees fellas. This section of the real WC (soo line) was more of a leafy - type forrest area. I can say that cause I walked the tracks. But I will make more piney (is that a word?) areas on the layout in future. It was real nice to hear from folks in Wisc. Thanks. Track plans etc all in good time. Just needed to know if the scenery "vibe" was right.
I donno...it's hard to tell...I mean there's no cows, corn, barns, silos, or empty cans of Pabst or Miller High Life along the riverbank. No deer hunters in blaze orange out in the woods, or Packer flags anywhere. And I don't see any protesters either. Hehe, just kidding, I've lived in Wisconsin all my life and it looks pretty darn good to me. Maybe just throw a couple old school harp style wig-wags on the next grade crossing and you'll be all set.
Needs more protesters... :tb-tongue: I'm actually keeping an eye on this and may ask for some more pics. I'm hoping todo something similar, but slightly later in the fall. Not looking to model 'Wisconsin'; just a nice, somewhat "easy" fall layout with some good color. I like it. And now I know where Burger King got it's inspiration for 'The King'
I worked for the WC from day one until nine years later and ran on a fair amount of it's track. It looks very much like places I ran with or without more pine trees. Nice job. Barry
Needs a local watering hole with Hamms on tap. I noticed more deciduous trees around Wisconsin Dells and more connifers up around Pembine, WI and Iron Mountain, MI.
W Neal - Ya thats not too bad. In the backdrop, You may want to add a few Concrete Silos or a few of the Dark Blue and White "Harvestore" Silos. On the surrounding hillsides.... Jerry G. (Living in America's Dairyland! )
If I were to add anything telephone poles would be up there. Especially old ones with-out wire. Most ROWs in Wisco have them.
