    I sent in some orders over a month ago and have heard nothing from them. I emailed them and got no reply.

    "Special Notice - If you placed a phone,
    e-mail or in person Pre-Order for products that have not yet been
    delivered
    by the manufacturer between April 20th, 2012 and January 3, 2013,
    you will need to submit the order again using the Shopping Cart system.
    Unfortunately we received an e-mail with an attachment that was infected by a
    worm. It destroyed our hard drive and backup system including the e-mail and the
    reservation database. Orders placed on the Shopping
    Cart system are secure and recoverable. DO NOT re-submit those."

    Curious... I placed an order with them in September, and I did use the shopping cart system, but it hasn't been shipped, yet. I asked them about shipping confirmation a few days after ordering, because I noticed that they had a shopping cart system on the site, which haldn't been there before. They said it would take some time to get the product from multiple suppliers. No word since then.

    It is kind of confusing how their main page still states they don't use a shopping cart system, when that is exactly what they are using, now.

    Be patient, he eventually gets his orders out. Give Wig Wag time and he will get his computer program upgraded and it will make it easier on all of us to order from him.

    I personally helped them set up their booth at the Great Train Expo in Anaheim a couple weeks ago. I got my DCC system from them. George and Debra are still in business.

    Rob, I buy around 50% of my new stuff from them, and never had a problem. Just pay attention to the expected delivery date when you pre-order. One thing they've added is the ability to log in to your account, and check your order history. Not everything has been upgraded to the shopping cart system yet, so if you have questions or doubts just give them a call.

    Yes, they seem to be in this transition between the shopping cart and the e-mail orders; the older inventory still has "E-mail your order" links. Also, they're on the road every so often; they're vendors at most of the Great Train Expos and other major train shows in the southwest - which means they pack up pretty much their entire inventory, go on the road with it and set up a physical store at the train show.

    I am encouraged if they move to the shopping cart system. It's been a few years since my last attempt, but even with email, faxes, and phone, I have never been able to close the loop on a successful order. I finally gave up.

    If the system they move over to is as good as the one currently used by the vendor I recently patronized then it will be a vast improvement. That system lets you see the instock inventory, make your selection and number of items, proceed to check out, and has shipping options to choose from. Plus you can edit your choices before final tally. After the order is done you get a order confirmation within about 15 minutes via Email with a tracking number. When it ships you get another Email with the shipping method tracking number so you can know when it will arrive. Another neat thing is if you go back to the site right after you made your order and check the same items and the store inventory reflects the reduction by the number of each item you ordered. Thus it is a realtime inventory and reflects exactly what is in the store or warehouse at the time you are shopping. If it doesn't show up it isn't there and you need to look elswhere. Of course any system is only as good as the folks entering the data and the reliable and strong antivirus sytem protecting it and the store and customer data. But such a system does require a dedicated warehouse and shipping person(s) with computer skills to make it run smoothly. All of the orders I have made to that outfit north of me always ship within two days of ordering and I always have my order at my door within a week of ordering with no partial or back ordering.

    Not that it's any reflection on them, but sometimes, having a social anxiety disorder can make phone calls difficult to do.

    I appreciated their quick response by email when I initially placed my order, but waiting several months without an update is a little distressing, especially if they are taking their inventory on the road so often.

    For most of us that is true. I have a friend that has all of the toys and high speed internet but refuses to be saddled with a phone bill

    I've called several times to check on pre-order status, and if you call during their posted phone hours you'll either get a busy signal or talk to Debbie or Natasha - they're both cool and should be able to resolve any issues. Just a heads up.

    I thought I remember reading something on their website of having a system issue that caused them to lose a lot of email orders and to resubmit it if it was between date "a" and date "b". I may call them if I were you. The dual website thing has got to go thought.

    This is a dangerous thread, as there are folks who will see the title and jump to incorrect conclusions. I would encourage a moderator to delete it for that reason. That said, I hope George gets the shopping cart system working well. Many of us have been frustrated with various on-line retailers that lack a good system for taking orders and confirming them with their customers. That doesn't help either the businessman or the model railroader.
