Let me see, we have a roof, we have way to take the roof off, and we have someone who can make perfect castings. Now, I feel like we have everything to get this done, but life stinks. We all have jobs and things we have to take care of first, but I am still hopeful. [IMG]

    Hey Tim,

Why don't you talk to Mark Gasson about this? Modular pieces parts for scratchbuilders. Roofs, doors, car ends, etc.

IF (note if, not when) I tackle this project, I will let you all know and share. By the time I do it, MTL will probably have rereleased two new boxcars w/o roofwalk (just speculating, no rumours here).

Randy, forget modular. Why dont you propose this to make my model.com. Think about it . Instead of a depot , choose the parts for your box car. The only thing is anybody painted one of their models with good results, and can they post a picture. Also, I am still waiting for them to release a single wide.

I have sent lots of emails asking for RV's trailers, and mobile homes. If you do the same, he will start making them.

    John,

Mark Gasson of Mark4Design has similar technology to MakeMyModel.com . Although the marketing strategy would get more variety of freight cars out there, I'm not sure I would want to run acryllic cars. Aren't they pretty fragile? Rolling stock inevitably gets dropped.

I was thinking more along the lines of making masters and then casting resin or something like that.

The problem with resin rolling stock is that it is not dimensionally stable over long periods. Even Yuji Kawubara (sp?) had to reshape his wonderful pre-FR and pre-MTL stack cars that he made only a few years after he first cast them.

Bottom line is that injection molded plastic and metal alloys are the best materials for rolling stock. Not that others won't work, just that if you are looking for long term growth and success, you have to use these.

Yes, I realize I contradicted myself. I'm just thinking out loud. ;)

Randy, thats all we are doing. Explore ideas on how to expand our rolling stock, and engines. I find the material Mark4 Design lot easier to use. Sometimes, the use of one materia might not be perfect, but if you use a composit, then it might be the perfect solution. Maybe we may have to add thin sheets of metal embedded into the resin roof, so that it doesn't warp. Just like you thinking out loud, so am I, and everybody thinking I am crazy. But, the point is if sometimes crazy ideas make great solution. It maybe crazy ideas, but is fun thinking about crazy z ideas

Henrik, your station really looks great. My station is either going to to a Miller engineering or Robert Ray's, and I am leanig towards Robert's desing.

Robert, I wrote to make My Model about their single wide. Their reply is that the prototype is ready. With all this stuff coming out, I better save some money for it.

Nice Station Henrik. Is it scratchbuild? I'm also need a new Station but in Mission Style. Maybe I ask Lionel to scratchbuild one for me. His work is outstanding.

Yes, after seeing Lionel's work in person, I am really pleased with it. I could not believe how much detail Lionel puts into his models, with every structure a complete mini scene!

I made a deal with Lionel to trade a bunch of his structures for a bunch of my wood rolling stock at the GATS, and I am really excited about the deal! :D

My friend Jeff bought the radio station, but I think Lionel is going to make that one into a kit.

I just got an email from Lionel saying he is done with the derelict building he made for me. :D
