Paul, can you please post some pics of the STEEL Graffiti Autorack cars. I am really on the fence about these and would like to see some 'real' photos'. In your opinion, how do they look?

I started Friday expecting to have purchased just a Badger 150 airbrush by this point. Instead, I ended up with an Iwata Eclipse HP-BCS with accessories and a MSA Advantage 200LS respirator.

Unfortunately, it will have to wait until I replace the cartridges on the respirator. The ones that came with it are designed to both handle chemical and particulate and they have already been used.

HEY !!! Been gone for awhile. Lotsa' races to attend this time of year, plus rearranging house and putting stuff in storage (NOT the trains, though !!!). Made it to Dupage Train show today and walked away with the following: ConCor SW-1200 (Kato drive) in BN, M/T 89' Flat Car with custom painted US Army trailers, 2 custom-painted EJ&E gons w/ I-beam loads, M/T rib-side DD box car in BN, M/T 40' box car in MKT, and M/T PS-2 3-bay covered hopper in CRI&P. Good to be back !!!

I took delivery of an eBay ordered Kato front truck for a late F-unit (in silver) to replace the one that melted while running as a guest on another club's modular layout at the last show. 13 bucks including shipping. Not a bad deal.

That's troubling... considering how many Kato F units I have. What was determined to cause the melting of your F unit truck?

Got the Kato NS Heritage SD70ACe's. Not all that impressed, colors look horrible. I have a hard time believing Neon Lime Green was a real road color and neither is Neon Yellow. They even forgot to finish the handrails on the NS black and white locomotives (they only did one per side).

These are going to sit in the box until the FVM locomotives are out. I will order those now and keep the ones that look the best. The others will be stripped and repainted and renumbered to current units on the NS roster.

I think my purchase of anything Kato is over since they can't seem to get the paint right or finish models.

I got out of the hospital 10 days ago, and actually saved money on food and expenses, since they were taken care of by the hospital and my insurer. So, I took the windfall and obtained three N scale items.

First, a Kato S-2 Northern Steamer for $68 including freight. I had low expectations from the unflattering picture and description and decided to take a chance, and it turned out I was the only bidder. It arrived intact, a little dusty, and in the oriiginal vinyl/foam box. It tested perfectly, and all it took was a little Unpaint to remove some poorly applied paint to the trucks and tender sides and voila, I have a like new S-2 Kato NOrthern!!!!!

Second, I purchased the Woodland Scenics of the Scrub and Wash, which depicts two bikini ladies washing a "40 Ford Coupe. Since I love bikini'ed ladies and 40 Ford coupes, these objects will be in the epicenter of my layout in my newly acquired gas station.

Third, is a Kato SD80 in Conrail, with a spare shell of an SD90/43Mac for $50 incl freight. Still en route, but the description showed it runs well, it is a relatively new issue and the photo looks intact. I am very hopeful.

It is good to be home and running trains.

I got all of the first run. Only one hand rail per side of the NS units is painted, the ones that go into the nose of the locomotive. None of the outside hand rails nor the rear hand rails on the NS units were painted like they were on the other ones.

After no bites on my Unitrack sale feeler, I decided I'm going to hold on to it and find some use for it, maybe even still use it on the layout. Anyway, I figured I could use some of the 9 3/4" curves and a 90 deg. crossing and build a new little break-in track for my locomotives and use the negative space on that for testing scenery techniques. Anything to get a train running in this tiny bedroom I have to deal with for another 2 months. I had a bit of sticker shock when I first picked up said 90 deg. crossing, but then thought about the rail gaps and wiring and the like that is done at the factory and I calmed down and bought it. Also grabbed an Atlas NE-6 with Shawmut Line paint, # 192.
