I ordered a Kato JNR D51 class 2-8-2 and a Tomix two car set of Kiha48-300 DMUs from Hobby Search in Japan. I'm a regular customer and had enough points saved up that I saved $160 on my ordered, so I ordered a Kato 4 car set of EMUs that run on the Yamanote Line. A nice bunch of goodies for me!
I got my new trains in the mail Saturday. I really need to get my layout going again, as these are just too nice to sit in the boxes. Kato Class D51 2-8-2: Tomix Kiha48-300 DMU 2 car set: Kato Yamanote Line 4 car set.
Set of 5 Rio Grande cars picked up from eBay. Was surprised to find one cookie car was an original KD car! Still had the $3.75 Hobby Town price sticker on the case!
Just got the MTL 8 car N&W runner pack. These cars are beautiful! The detail is nothing less than fantastic. Crisp decals and lettering. The coal load is removable and the doors on the bottom open which I thought was the coolest thing since sliced bread. I highly recommend purchasing these if you are an N&W fan. Although, I want a few more sets so dont buy them and let me get them
Nothing recently. However, I did make an interesting little trade for some IM and M/T good old black single dome tank cars- GATX, SHPX, UTLX.
I got an 18 pack of various powdered pastels on ebay for about $21 + shipping. That's my most recent, although the past two weeks have also included: -A Static Grass Applicator -Phosphor Bronze wire for handrails -Two Atlas GP38 Shells -$60 of detail parts from BLMA -About $30 of pollyscale paint End list.
I recently picked up some SD60M parts from Atlas for an upcoming kitbash. I also found a needle file set on Amazon for 6 bucks. I recently purchased some flex track to repair some iffy trackwork on my layout, as well as some spare roadbed and other ends and ends. Finally I picked up an Atlas GATX tank car that I had been admiring on eBay.
Got one Rio Grande gon with rock load, from MT on Ebay recently. Got the second car number from eBAY a couple days ago, and paid for yesterday. Didn't know they had been done, until I camer across them on the Bay. Waiting for information on Set #5, of the Lowell Smith AFT series.
I keep doing this.... getting the cart before the horse, but it was one... ehh, two of those things I just "had" to have! Picked up two Southern Railway engines off eBay for what I thought was good pricing. Both DC, but I think they are easily (I hope) adaptable to DCC. Got a Bachmann Spectrum 4-8-2 (in green and white!!) and a Walther's Life-Like Proto RS-2 (also in green and white!). Both are very nice and I love those green/white Southern colors. The RS-2 is new and the 4-8-2 is probably 5-6 years old but very nice and needs the tender coupler changed over to MTs or something other than Rapidos. Since my layout is under eternal construction, I will be running both of them this weekend at my model railroad club.
Just got a Bachmann 4-6-0, my second steam loco (the first being a Bachmann heavy mountain). What a sweet little engine! Spent about 45 minutes running 'er around the loop last night. Ran very well right out of the box, but may need a little tinkering with the CVs to improve slow-speed performance. Cost me about $65 with shipping, new. Big win. (In addition to the two steamers, I picked up a Bachmann 70-tonner in the last year. All are superb.) Jim
Not really a purchase. More a finding and a DE-acquisition. I am in the processing of organizing my late father's papers to contribute to a historical archive. On addition to being a skilled Lionel layout builder, my dad was a radio performer in 1930-31. (I make the joke that he was a comedian back in the days of "Silent Radio" and it takes people a moment to catch on. Silent RADIO?!?!?) Among his stuff was a box of fan mail was a postcard promoting Missouri Pacific passenger service, postmarked april 1931. I am donating the original along with the collection, but I scanned it to keep the image and share it here.
Newest NKP Diesel Just bought this Kato N scale Nickel Plate Road RSD-12 #332 pre-production model 17717-2 off eBay for $40 - probably not the best price, but I'm in NKP N scale locomotive acquisition mode at the moment!
I just bought or should I say ordered the Cornerstone Santa Fe-Style Brick Depot. It’s been over a few days and I haven’t had any conformation or anything. I’m getting a little worried about it and I hope it is actually available. I'm hoping that it just that they are so busy, that they have not got to my order yet. I think what worries me was all the stuff about back orders in the ordering process and the extra fees that could be charged. I don't know how many things I've ordered that ended up back ordered?
My latest is the second number of the MT Rio Grande gondola wth rock load. And recently, the first wagon flat in the Lowell Smith AFT series. Not a whole lot that grabs my attention anymore.
Some Ngineering components for my daughter's coming lighthouse module (more on that to come once we get some basics figured out). They make a very good lighthouse light simulator. I looked at some kits but I think we're going to scratch-bash one.
