Picked up Saturday at a local swap meet, 6 building kits. Freight depot, passenger depot and 4 house kits. My first building purchase other than the roundhouse that I have.
Hey all!! Boy did I get lucky this weekend at the Kate Shelley Division swap meet! I got the little Kato Mike for $40 !!! The guy was gettin rid of his N-Scale toys. Then I perused through a table full of steamers and found the famed Con Cor S-2!!! I will let you all guess what I paid for that!!!
Ordered my CB&Q E-5 yesterday. Ordered one of the production without skirts as it goes better with my other CB&Q cars. Also ordered some more building supplies and two GS-4 trailing trucks for a project later. Should have it all by Monday next week.
Ordered my IM DCC/Sound equipped AC-12 cab forward yesterday. Could possibly be here tomorrow, or Monday at the latest. Should be nice, once it arrives. Test run here, or maybe a break in run one day, at upcoming train shows in Denver in a couple of weeks.
Not really "My" purchase...THE Wife bought em Kato E5A CB&Q #9910A Silver Speed ** It's Here !!!* FVM ES44DC BNSF #7687
Just ordered 6 NKP 1000 cabeese form Shapeways expect them this week. Thanks to John Colombo for bringing these to us N scalers and NKP aficionados. I think that this is one of the most important steps for model railroading and will open a lot on innovation and creativity. Jack S
A couple of Espee Cab-Forwards showed-up on Saturday... An AC-8 and and AC-10... ordered from two different model railroad 'pushers' ;-). Haven't tried them out yet... perhaps today???
My AC-12 cab forward arrived Saturday, after I ordered it Thursday AM! Test ran good, then bathed it in oil, as I lubed the points necessary, according to the instructions!!
My latest is a Peco SL396 Code 80 Insulated Frog turnout and the associated motor, to replace yet another of my dead Kato #4 turnouts: I don't have room for the Kato #6, which is a far better product. As these things fail, I'm now buying the Peco to replace . . . Regards, Pete Davies
As mentioned in the Trainfest thread, I picked up a few things including a Radio Wireless MRC Prodigy Conversion package direct from MRC, some Atlas Pellet Hoppers from Southside Trains (50% of the $24.99 list at $12.50 each, and with a real need for more of those on a chem heavy IHB layout) and some track laying tools. Prior to that, and at home, I was lucky enough to get some IHB locos (at GP40's and a custome NW2 in IHB) Other than that, layout supplies.
My Nebraska Zephyr arrived today. Wow, nice. I think I will replace the headlight LED with a sunny white one but other than that, I have no complaints. Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using Tapatalk 2
Picked up three issues of Diesel Era magazines featuring B&M GP7s and GP9s. Time to dust off the airbrush.
My latest purchase has been several decoders to start the long, expensive, and much-procrastinated-upon process of converting my little T-Trak layout to DCC. So far my favorite converted loco is a Kato Alco RSC2 (actually, two of them, in SAL colors) equipped with a TCS drop-in board. The conversions were easy ones, the locos run smoothly with good throttle response, and the TCS decoder's LED's are so bright that they cast a beam of light in front of the loco through the clear plastic light bar. The loco's throttle response is so good that I doubt that I will need to tweak any CV's to improve it's performance, and those bright headlights are simply awesome! I still have quite a few locos to convert, most of which will use drop-in boards, although a few will need TCS type CN boards, which are almost drop-ins. This will likely keep my wallet pretty empty for some time to come! Bill in FtL
Recently added 3 old time reefers from Micro-Trains' new Meat Packer Series to my collection (in blue box in photo below).
