Tony Hammes and I are "Thinking Snow" and finishing up the rotary plows in our thread. Just got the primer on mine yesterday.
As usual, unfinished but progress is progress... Here is my latest project: A G&W GP38 that I've replaced the logo to W&P and renumbered for Tigard (since I worked in Tigard for a few years). Need to cleanup the roof, add the front rails, and paint the walkways black but it's getting there.
Thanks Flash, but I can't take credit for much of the paint job - all I did was remove the G&W logo and the numbers on the cab and replace with Microscale 60-827. Oh yeah, and the black on the roof (which, like I said, needs touch up). The Microscale sheet has decals for #1801 as well as a single Willamette & Pacific Loco, with about a dozen city names to choose from and does include the stripes. Here is my 1801, also "in-progress": Along the same lines the following units were also originally Genesee & Wyoming: And this is a fantasy, the real "Toledo" is an SW1500. Not sure if I like it, but it may grow on me:
I've been dabbling with some before-and-after photos of Sweethome Chicago to show the differences made over the past couple of months. Here's a selection Before After Before After There are some more comparisons in my topic over on the HO forum http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?t=99874 Jon
Foto Fun 2008 07 06 I'm back now from the Derby City Express 2008 National N Scale Convention. It was a great show. Many great memories, which are online at: atsf_arizona's Photo Galleries at pbase.com One of the memories was carrying around and showing Randy Gustafson's SP GE 70-tonner, built by the Randgust himself from one of his resin kits: Here's a YouTube video, showing the pulling power of this little critter (it walks away with a 12-car Kato Daylight): [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ili2AgdIWA"]YouTube - Randy Gustafson N scale GE 70-Tonner pulls Kato Daylight[/ame] (if you're interesting in Randgust's kit, you can find more info at: Randgust's Web Page ) Have a Good Week, and Happy 4th of July, all.
I posted this in the wrong forum. Now it is posted in the correct one. Sorry about that! I haven't been out railfanning since Hemi was here back in April. Thought it was about time! My girlfriend likes to hike and so I asked her if she would like to take a moderate hike up Rattle Snake Gultch to shoot trains with me at tunnels 8-11. She gladly accepted not knowing exactly what she was getting into. I had forgoten how grueling that hike can be if you are not in shape and you are walking a pretty fast clip as to not miss any train action! Well enough rambling here are few shots for about 4 hours worth of work. Here is the first shot: Westbound Amtrak #5 pokes out of Tunnel 8 as it climbs up the Front Range on July 5, 08. Due to the flooding in the midwest Amtrak's journey westward begins in Denver, meaning it is actually on time! The main reason I wanted to hike up to Tunnel 10 is to catch the summer Ski Tain. Here are two shots seconds apart: Hemi loves this shot so I hiked up to Old 9 to catch the summer Ski Train. Sun wasn't at its best but what are you going to do? A few seconds later the Ski Train is through Old 9 and approaching Tunnel 10. The engineer was really trottling up as he came through this area. Put out about as much exhaust as a heavy manifest. Passengers have got love that as the hold their breath through T-10!
Here is the final shot of the day before we headed back down the hill to the Rockies game. Gevos are rare sight on the Moffat. Here are two of them heading downhill toward Denver with the MRONY on July 5, 08. As an interesting side note I heard a westbound UP manifest (MNYRO) as we headed back down the hill. I was able to see a little of the train and heard two DPU's on the rear end of the manifest. Other photographers have reported the same sightings lately. This is a new practice for the UP. I will try and get some shots later this week.
Finished the RPSU for my rotary snow plow. It just needs a bit of weathering. Also finished my B32-8 Demonstrator unit. Still needs the numbers on the number board and some weathering.
