Welcome to another weeks edition, hope you brought your own drinks. I've got some chilli going but be carefull [IMG]
Anyway, I finally got to take a few pics of some recent projects. This is a hopper in progress. It started as a Bachmann B&O, deheralded. Top and end shot with gray primer, underbody alcohol/ink washed. I drilled out the trucks to fit over the BMann pin, and it's equipted with accumates. There are decals on the way for it, but that will be another story for later.

    I've also recently aquired an ALCO 424 that will eventually repainted for the Apache Railway. {BTW: Could some of you BN nuts tell me if it looks like Cascade Green? Opinions? check here Alco World Apache page }

And some power for the mainline....

I looked at the pictures and agree......it's different then the BN green. That looks more like a Hunter Green. Might have to do some mixing for that one if you can't find one that matches.
I'll have another bowl of that chili. :D

balou: Nice weathering for all. Don't lose that when you add the decals on the hopper.

Under construction is my Texaco pipeline terminal. Oil pumped in here is distributed by rail around south Texas. Just finished the tanks tonight, but not painted. They are all PVC with styrene tops. The double track around the end is the main line.

    Flash,

The oil terminal looks great, I like the way the sidings are spaced.

I just finished operating the layout and switching the cement works.

    1. The MKT patched ex Conrail GP40 arrives with an empty load of cement hoppers while a MKT grain train awaits clearance to proceed the mainline.

    2. Empty hoppers are backing into the siding while a fully loaded set of hoppers await to be picked up.

    3. With the full hoppers switched into the cement siding the GP40 now sets about picking up the string of fully loaded hoppers. Because of the reduced length of the lead road the train must be picked up in two strings of 4 cars.

    4. Here the train with fully loaded cars has headed out onto the mainline to turn around then enters back into the industrial line heading for Roanoke Yard where the train will be stabled until switched onto a connecting train.

I pretty much finished the scratch built N scale Red Roof Inn I have been working on recently. It is made out of Plastruct and Evergreen plastics.
It still needs some landscaping but I will save that for when it finds a home on my layout.

The problem with BN "Cascade Green" is that it came in many different shades. Whether newly applied, or weathered. I'd guess it depended upon what shop painted, and even the previous paint underneath.

Great shoots everyone. John I love those Alco's, thank you.

I finally was able to get into the garage at 9:30PM to spend a little time and take a few pictures. My late entry into the garage was not due to pressing issues more HEAT.

Sunny California is nice but when it is 97 out and well over a 110 in the garage enough is enough. Ask my SO about extending the AC into the garage and I got the [IMG] [IMG]

I hate hot weather. Anything over 85 and am not happy. But, here are just a few. Nothing special.

Since all of the talk & speculation over the Walther's acquistion of Life-Like, I would like to post an old picture of a project that I completed.

No one else but Life-Like made a Reading caboose that I could use to make my version of ADN 17.

    Herman,

That Red Roof Inn is spectacular! Seeing projects like that make me realize,

    1. My talent level is low

    2. Too bad I don't model a more modern era.

    Great Job.

Some really great shots. Thanx for the "green" opinions. I don't really want to custom mix, so I may have to use the "close enough" rule. Decals will have to be custom.
    Flash,
I didn't actually weather the hopper, except for the underside. I'd call it more distressed from removing the B&O with a Q tip and a non-acetone.
I like your PVC tanks, good proportions. I may have to reconcider my own.
    Chad,
    love the new power!
    Tad,
    Great job on the caboose
    Herman,
Thanks for reminding me of the spirit of Route 66 with homage to the American vacation!

    Colonel:

Nice ops scenario. Excellent weathering on the MKT engines. I like the freight station in the back ground. Must be the trees! ;)
