Found in Longmont Sunday afternoon, shot 9:30PM Sunday night: Great Northern woodchip hopper: Northern Pacific Woodchip hopper: Coupled to each other even!! Saw it during the daylight hours, but never bothered to go back while it was still light, for photos.
Thanx, the non-d/b section was made using evergreen styrene, The hardest part was the forming of the start of the flares which was layered styrene carved and filed to "look right" this is my second non-d/b job the first a life like SD-7 and the third still in construction a Kato SD-40 which will be in MP blue with C&NW patches to represent one of 20 ex MP units that went via VMV to C&NW
I noted the flared section off the raditors. Neat! For the (ongoing) Soo SD40B I used the non-D/B section with exhaust stack from an Atlas GP40-2 body I had spare when I moved the DB section forward. It fitted the SD40 body well so could be an option for your MP SD40.
That would have been an easier option but I've already started the SD-40 - just needs a new roof. The saw cut was made behind the exhaust stack and then after removal of the part, I had to saw the round offs of the front of the flared section of the d/b - very carefully to not damage the bodyside then file or fill as required. I'll try and get a pic to show what I have done so far Alex
Great pictures everyone! It is nice to see others work! Here are a couple of progress pictures of the IHC LNE 0-8-0 switcher I am weathering. I have added window glazing to the cab, removed the number, and repainted the cab. I also added a WS engineer. The wheels and rods have been weathered. I also gave the handrails their first coat of black. I plan on giving the handrails another coat of black. I also will be applying number decals shortly. Then I will finish weathering the locomotive.
Excellent work done by all who posted. Great photos of the modeling I must say. I got the container finished that I was building. Here is how it turned out. I also finally added the airline piping to this hopper that I made a little while back. Now it is finally done.
Red Rock: Nice work! I like both models, but I especially like the piping on the covered hopper. That is N scale?
I finally got my stone age film from the weekend developed so I could scan it in. Our club was running our NTRAK layout in Flatonia, Texas. Here is a shot of a module depicting Stafford, Texas.
