In Russell's abscence I will open the foto fun topic this week. Here are a couple of pics from my album, I havent had time to do anything myself as yet due to work commitment's. A couple of pics from visitors who have run their trains on my layout. The first is from Flash Blackman who brought his Tex Mex locos for a run The next pic is when Scott brought his CP locos over. Ok guys lets get busy with this topic and post lots of pics please.
I just have this test running pic after simplifying the loco-tender wiring on my new HO Spectrum 4-6-0. Now I must get it repainted into AWRR scheme.
This is my project this week. I cut up a couple of Walthers 48' post containers and came up with this one. I just have to touch up some paint and decide which intermodal company will win the bid for this guy.
Heres a couple from Jackson, Missouri and the St Louis, Iron Mountain, and Southern. They are staffed by almost all volunteers i've been waiting for a full saturday when I can get down there. Enjoy. And for the OLD timers, check this out. Its on a wood caboose at the OK City Rail Museum....look close, the tracukl beams are wood.
I like the pics so far. Nice job, guys and gals!! Maybe things will pick up as the weekend goes along. Saturday am in the USA now. I had kitbashed some of the DPM buildings and could not use some of the left over parts. I just glued a corner together and made a burned building. I added some broken floors and broken beams in the back. Maybe I should put a small tree growing in the center to emphasize being abandoned. --------------------------- In fact, that was such a good idea: [ 23. I put a feedwater heater and additional piping on ths 2--8-2 Mikado: I also added some additional boards to raise the coal load on the tender. Originally there was a speaker in the tender that left of the original coal load in a slanted position. Many railroads increased the size of the coal load by adding additional boards to the tender.. Stay cool and run steam.....
Bob: Very nice detail additions. How do you remember where all those pipes go? (I am just a diesel guy.) Also, was the Erie paint job an original Kato or added? Very, very nice weathering.
Pictures of Wig-Wag's new store: I told George I was going to let him select the pictures, but then I realized I wouldn't be seeing him for a few days to hand over the CD. Here's the outside. George and Deb have both "bays" of the store--one for the store and one for shipping and storage. Here's the retail side as you enter the store. That's a wall of N scale engines under the "Tejon" sign. That's George in the blue shirt at the back. Finally, for now, a table of nothing but cars, often three and four deep. Pete
I several prototype models for the piping on the 2-8-2 Mikado. I use 18 gauge wire for this piping. I bought some brass tubing for all my other loco's that will have feedwater heaters. That will work better because the tubing is less flexible than the 18 gauge wire. The piping is really easy to do BTW. I small pair of orthodontic pliers and you're all set... Kato made two Mikados #3200 and #3204..That is the original paint...I still have to weather the sideboard addition on the tender. I thought I'd try to make this loco look well traveled. Sometimes I think I added too much weathering ... but I like the effect. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it.... Stay cool and run steam.... [ 24. Some great work guys, It's a rainy Sunday afternoon here in Sydney so I decided to do some switching on the layout. Here you can see two GP20's switching 4 boxcars at Sherman Cement Works then proceeding to Farmers Feed & Seed Co-Operative to drop of 3 grain cars. Look forward to seeing more pics posted.
As I particularly like switching, I really enjoyed your latest pics Paul. More switching action, please
Sydney N Scale had its bi-annual open day on Saturday 23/10 and thanx to Jason's camera I was able to take a pic of my kato non-dynamic brake C&NW SD-45 [ 24. October 2004, 19:05: Message edited by: Sten ]
Nice unit, Sten. What did you use for the non-dynamic section? A shot from last week's belated post to 'It's MONDAY, weekend modeling accomplishments!'
Nice shots so far! Paul, I never get tired of looking at photos of your layout. Those UP GP20s look awesome!
SNFF 10 24 04 Hi, all, From my visit with LongTrain at the Scottsdale Sun-N-Sand layout. A set of Southern Pacifci SD7s idle in the Sun-N-Sand's yard. As you can tell, I goofed and we have the road numbers matching. Oh well! Take care, all.
San Diego Model RR Museum - La Mesa HO Tehachapi Layout Tehachapi Loop layout photos from behind the scenes ========== and, adding to SNFF, this reposting from earlier in the week: Hello, all (especially SP and ATSF fans), Thanks to the San Diego Model RR Museum, La Mesa HO Club, on Tuesday night, Oct 19, 2004, they let me visit during their work night. I took about 70 photos from *behind the scenes* of their massive, wonderful Tehachapi Loop HO layout. While not N scale, some great modeling of the Southern Pacific and Santa Fe on the Tehachapi Pass on a grand scale. You can see these photos online at: http://community.webshots.com/user/atsf_arizona_layout_tour2 look in Volumes 1, 2 and 3. Here's a teaser, a picture of Caliente on the eastbound climb towards Tehachapi Loop: To put the photos in perspective and understand what's going on with this massive layout, have your January 2004 Model Railroader cover story article handy: Hope you enjoy the visit!
Here's a few pics of George and Deb's modules at their new store: Here's one looped end: Here's a wide view: Here's a closer shot: A nice mine scene: I'm not familiar with Ntrak modules, so I don't really know what's what here.
Hi all Heres my entry taken on my new layout as the scenic work starts to develop Good old Atlas PRR Tainmaster bursts (well emerges) out of the lower tunnel onto the layout :- Have fun all
Here's a Dakota, Missouri Valley & Western grain train on leased CP trackage, at Custer, ND. Note the former CN widecab Geeps on the point: Here's his leader--yes, it's SNOWING!
