I'll bet this puts one of the manufacturers over the edge and it will be done next year.At least I hope so.
Flash I took the 4610 to St.Louis a few months back.People were everywhere taking pics of it.Like I say a fallen flag paint scheme will bring out people everytime.
Alan already said it, but as far as the SP/DRGW units go, it would be a disgrace to have them clean. Also, I couldn't get that link to work.
CP Rail a year or two ago said they were also doing Fallen Flag units of their former roads. I was even sent an e-mail from somebody upstairs at CP that confirmed it, but it never happened for a Milwaukee Road unit.
SP heritage units? Shoot, I still see unpatched AC4400Ws in full-blown Espee livery (with speed lettering) coming thru Cheyenne now & then. Yesterday evening at our RR club meeting, I spotted one in the consist of a westbound freight. Oddly enough, it looked like it had been washed. Yes, washed. A CLEAN SP freight diesel. And no, I wasn't at Snake River Pub when I saw it....... Personally, I'd like to see an MKT "Big Ace" myself.........
Just Got a call from my friend in Ill who knows Sean Graham White. He was told that the UP is planning to paint 'every road under the sun' that ever went into UP. So CNW will be done sometime
As if they wouldn't be doing C&NW, the guy in charge of locomotives used to work for C&NW, why do you think the red stripe zig-zags on the SD70's....... lightning bolt. no where as attractive as the lightning bolt GE's but C&NW will live in UP for a long time yet. Just adding that the original post that started this and the link to the trains forum said they were not doing SP/DRGW so it's quite amazing how things turn.
Here is what Brian posted in the N scale forum The UP has aparently painted 2 units in "Heritage" schemes, with 5 total to be done up. The first are suposedly in Mo Pac and WP. These pictures are from Trainorders where this has been all the buzz this week. They are set to be unveiled Saturday.
The plow looked Jenks Blue.Oh my I knew it was going to be to good to be true. There are now pics of both of them uncovered.I couldn't get them to come up though.
They don't look to bad at all.Just can't wait for some still photo's of them. They are so glossy that they shine right back into the camera.
The Mopac unit looks like the lighter blue is supposed to be a huge screaming eagle.Look at the light blue to Jenks blue.It looks like the wing ends of the screaming eagle.Once still photos are out we can tell better. But for now I like em.
Well, going from those pictures, they used the wrong word to describe these paint schemes. There's very little "heritage" to them. Whether or not they look good, is another thing..... Boxcab E50
