    Matt,
Once Gats finishes my custom paint job you will get the first pic. I should have realised that telling Gats that custom painting was a real chick magnet would get him started immediately actually I think he is buying the paint as I'm writing this.
stay tuned this colud be the start of a beautiful romance.

a good paint job would be fine on the right loco as kato hasn't done the correct phase 2 model yet. look at the rad. grilles on the picture. i thought about doing one myself but will wait until kato does the next version in the spring.

    Thanks for saving my 'bacon'!
Really, the radiators are a simple fix compared to doing the scheme correctly. I took the time to look at the BLW site and I wasn't impressed with the UP loco - not even close. Those camoflage 'splotches' are far too big. and to be incorrect for near US$200?... yeah, right...
Of course, this is just my opinion [IMG]

Custom body painting a chick magnet? You bet! Chick's body painting is great relaxation - and you don't have to mask the pointy bits [IMG]

Hey gats, I agree with you on both subjects. The brown shapes are WAY to big and yes, painting is a chick magnet! :-D

I have no idea why I'm digging this one up, but did this loco ever get done??? ;)

I think I finished mine shortly after this thread started and died some 9 years ago. Glad to see the archives work... :)

I forgot to mention that I cheated on the brown blobs. Microscale did the decals for the camo which made things a lot easier.

This thread is older than my membership to the board... :)

here are some pics of mine not to hijack the topic or your posts brian, this is probably the hardest one i have ever done, i chose to hand paint the camo on mine as the decal sets were flaking real bad.

No worries, I hijacked it from Colonel.... :) Nice job painting the blobs on. So far, the decals have held up over 8 years.

Nope, still have some Bluford cars left. I had one coupler break on me, but I've got a few more left still.

Thanks for the compliment on the website jpwisc. It's a work in progress.
