Congrats to my brother gcav17 for finally guessing the RR!! It was a lot of fn texting and phone chatting as he pizzled it over! I am more than happy to support TB, and these things will look goofy in the midst of 36 and 40 foot wood boxcars. A 1920's era road will have a little flash forward with these! Hopefully the next will be a bit older car, please? Anyway, thank you for the effort! Because even an old time RR has to have a visit from the future on occasion! It's part of the fun!!!!!
We have what I think is a really interesting plan for the future and I am eager to share it when we get farther down the road on this project. This one will always be remembered as the first TrainBoard run and I think 300 people (or less since some have ordered multiple cars) will be glad that they have this car a few years from now. Charlie
One quick question: Multiple cars shipped for same price? Payday can't get here soon enough!! Planning on getting 2 cars for my collection! Will be ordering mine Thursday AM. Should make for interesting conversations at train shows. For those that see the car and ask about it!
Hi Charlie, When you announced this project a week ago, did you think that you would sell 1/3 of the cars in 7 days and most of the 100 (98 I think) without revealing the Railroad, Car Type other then Boxcar, etc.,? Gary
"My 2000 ORER doesn't show a single car with MI reporting marks left under Union Pacific..." No surprise since "it was merged into the Missouri Pacific in 1978..." according to Wikipedia. MoPac was quick to eliminate much of a reference to former subsidiaries, especially so the smaller ones.
I'm slowly evolving to the point that I try to run the locomotives and cars from the same era. Sure, I have bullet trains on at the same time but if you see a photo it will be "sorta accurate".
Kinda what I was relating. I'm leaning more towards running strictly the more modern ( 1990's+ ) stuff. If you put a string of 1950-1960's boxcars in your yard next to a string of 1990-2012 boxcars...things have a tendency to look a little 'hinkey'. Everything I own and run is right out there in Lucky Penny Yard for the world to see ;-) That being said...if it did have "TrainBoard" on it and it was an older car...I could pretty much justify running it with modern stuff and not feel so guilty or hinky. But just a plain old fallen flag car...not so much. I have been known to remove the roofwalks on older boxcars so they dont stand out so much. I usually mix the older stuff in with the newer stuff so nothing really stands out. I am not a collector or investor but honestly...I dont think I would have the heart to open...remove the roofwalk (shudders) and run my one TB car. Especially since I can only afford one. Which leads me back to a special run car having 'Trainboard' on it. It would pretty much make any disagreements/debates...on any year car...from the 'runners' amongst us less likely. Well...from me anyways. ;-) BTW...for Charlie...I'm not so sure I could find 299 'friends' who would agree with me on anything....roflmao. Just one mans opinion. That and 5.00 will get ya a cup of coffee at Starbucks....LMAO !!!!
Nice car, but I'm gonna pass, just doesn't fit my era. Maybe I could find a set of BN F units, and do a late 70s train...guess I could sleep on it some.
With... or without... roofwalk With... or without... the black COTS stencil??? What year will be the build date and last shopped date? BTW... I like the car... but I too prefer to get one that fits my 1950's to early 1960's era.
Yes! We will refund money to people that bought more than one car as well. I meant to mention this earlier and I forgot! If you order 2 or 3 cars (as some folks did) you will have shipping money refunded at the time we ship. I would do it now but I need to keep these PayPal records intact and not get jumbled up. Charlie
No, I am surprised! I just hope we can keep it up. Once we get to 200 we will be even financially and the last 100 cars will be profit for the project.
Information from Morning Sun's Missouri Pacific Color Guide to Freight and Passenger Equipment: The series M-I 96550 to 96749 was built in 1962 by Pullman-Standard. As part of the MP's system-wide renumbering, the group became series 250350 to 250547. The Color Guide has this happening in the early 1960s, however one of the photos cited from RRPictureArchives.net is from 1967 and has M-I 96372 in its original number. The Color Guide has a shot of MI 250503 from 1970.
I am trying to get together enough to order 2 more. I know shipping is always a nasty thing. I wouldn't mind just letting you keep the little bit extra to cover some of the loss on other shipments or even increase the funds for the overall board expenses. Of course that may take some additional accounting or hassles, but I am open to it if you want to do it that way.
We appreciate that but we will be glad to refund any additional shipping charges as we are not out to gouge people.
Just tried 3 times to place an order. Get an error message when I place my order. Says an error occurred while processing your request. Before submitting this again, log in and che/k you Account History to ensure that the transaction didn't complete. I did check, and nothing went through. Going to try a different computer in a minute. Maybe that'll work instead.
