Well, Union Pacific DID paint some of their Northerns in two-tone gray, and of course we can't forget the SP GS-class Northerns in Daylight colors. More I think about it, an AW steamer WOULD look good in black............. with perhaps a graphite smokebox front......... [ 29 April 2002, 16:11: Message edited by: friscobob ]
OK,my interest has peaked, its been a year so how did this story end Allen??? wheres this steamer at today?
Great Story and great Paint Job!! The Thing that caught my eye was that you swapped a diesel.I will be heading to a swap meet next Saturday so i read the thread through but was looking for the happy ending. How is it for running? did you do anything mechanical to it(remotor or regear etc?)
OK Alan, so fess up - how many roofwalk 40 footers have you acquired? And, once you had those, didn't those excellent new FT's suddenly look very, very tempting?
Kato C30-7, Paul... looking for SP units, hmmm? Geez, Alan, I know you're good, but a Dash-9 into a steamer?

For anyone like me who is too lazy to click on the link....here is the VERY impressive new paint job. I'm tempted to pick up a steamer to run excursion runs on my layout now....
Anyone notice that the lead tender truck is off the track?!!! Funny how you never notice until you see the photo
Hey Alan, Doesn't the AW need a bicentineal steam engine? The engine red, white and blue with the union jack on the tender........ Just a thought [ 22. April 2003, 22:54: Message edited by: Ed Pinkley#2 ]
