Gosh, don't they look wonderful. They may have been grubby, but we loved them Ten units on a train! I saw one train on Cajon with ten units back in '98, but don't think they were all actually needed - some were mabe a power move.
Thanks SO much for posting these great pics; they're bringing back some great memories I have of railfanning SP in its last few years. I love that shot of 7423 - full light packages rock! I shot the same unit at Dolores later in the nineties - still looked the same, except it had gained UP-style ditchlights, and lost the red lens for its UDE light.

Good lookin photos Jeff! All my photos are scanned from prints. I used about 95% Fuji 200 film, and the rest Kodak. Burned this film inside a Samsung Maxima Zoom 77i. Damn fine camera this is. And the scanner I use is a Canon, Canoscan LIDE20. Thom
SD40M-2 leads the empty oil (DOBKU) through Mojave. These were the last couple months of Oil Cans going over Tehachapi. Oil over Tehachapi ended Oct 31 1996. This photo was taken 9-12-96.
