I am still working on the 3D renderings of my future layout.

In the mean time I am posting some pictures of my two locos and two of recent purchased rolling stock.

    So far I have a GE AC4400CW
    a GE DASH 8-40B

as for the rolling stock a coal Bethgon and a ACF 60' AUTO PARTS CAR.

So i was playing with more ideas for my track plan. I decided to lengthen the major siding to allow for passenger trains without blocking the main line.

Also I along with the middle backdrop divider, I am modeling a mountain at one side for a scene divider. On the other side I decided to model the Transcanada highway overpass to break up the scenery. Not to mention the countless pines I am going to have. [IMG]

Here are some updates to my layout in 3d renders.

This one shows my twist on a yard in the Town of Field BC. It has a train station to the right, small yard building beside the one bay maintenance building. In the distance the yards GYOB building with tower.

To the bottom left you can see the Trans Canada Highway over pass that will act as one of my scene breaks

This view shows the Kicking Horse river and the two bridges crossing it. The two tunnels I am modeling.

This view shows the Kick Horse Canyon transitioning to an open valley with sprawling pine forests.

This one shows more of the river basin and valley. My grade transition in topography. As well as, the camping scene I am going to model depicting a kayaking trip on the Kicking Horse River.

Very nice stuff :) I really like what you've come up with for your trackplan. Can't wait to see you start the building process

Thanks, been bit of a struggle to get things right in terms of overall function and having room for shunting and switching to keep interest.

Better to get things ironed out right away then being stuck well into building process.

Very nice trackplan. I wish I had done a 3d render for mine. I'm sort of reverse engineering as I go haha

I find that it helps me visualize my vision of my layout. And at the same time allows me to play with structures and topography, so when it is time to model everything I will not encounter to many surprises.

UPDATE: I decided to start making pines from scratch while in the process of collecting my unitrack and materials for the bench work.

I am using the sisal rope and wire twist method to make my pines.

My first step is making the trees.

This is my first one, to follow after I make a 200 to 300 I need of different sizes. I will be getting some flat green spray paint, hairspray and woodland scenics fine ground turf of varying colours to finish them off.

Your design reminds me on the Utah Route that was in Model Railroader back in 2010. You may want to take a look at that. They used the unitrack super-elevated curves. Nice look.

Some slow progress on my pines while I collect the items needed to start my layout construction.

That yellowy color looks good. Reminds me of some pines in my vicinity.

They will be spray painted hunter green soon. Then when ready to be planted on my layout they will have some lighter ground fine foam for highlights and more realism. British Columbia, what I am modelling has lush pine forests.

Another update for you guys. This time my bench work blue prints.

It will consist of 1/4" 3x8 foot piece of plywood for the work surface. With 3" foam board going on top.

For the framing I am using 1x3s and 2x3 for the legs. With wheel casters to follow for mobility. Total height to track level is going to be about 51".
