Given the uncertainty over the Georgetown Loop's future, the missus and I decided to go next Sunday the 27th. Anybody care to join us?
William,We just went about two weeks ago. The contract is supposedly going to be awarded to some company from back East . I do not know what kind of equipment they will have to run since all the current stock is owned by the group now running the RR. Best to go if you can. John
Was, and still am, hoping to make the railroad museum Saturday!! Gotta see what's been done witht the Coors SW-8 and the Rio Grande GP30. Since I missed the days they were moved in. Just not sure when I'll be down that way. Have a few things I want to do later this morning, before I head out of town. If I don't make it Saturday, I'm going Sunday for sure!
Folks, the trip was outstanding, save for the hail, torrential rain, clouds, and heavy winds..... I spent all day saturday in the South Draw, with many shots to come from there, and a few other places, here's a teaser: A heavy BNSF DENSTO manifest struggles upt he rain-slick rails west of Crescent, with its intense headlights illuminating the interior of Tunnel 19 under fading light:
Hemi, That is an awesome shot. Very different. I like it alot. I'm back from my Sand dunes trip... Of course one always comes across a train when on vacation. Oh yeah, the guy with the sh## eating grin is geeky. I got lots of video down in the alamosa yard. I even harvested a blown diesel headlamp from the trash heap. Very cool item.
