Eric, WELCOME to TrainBoard. Depending on which area of town you and others work at maybe we can setup a lunch and slowly meet each other that way too.
Right now it would be tough for me to meet at a big gathering but I often go out to lunch so I'm always open to meeting someone then from time to time too. I'm near I225/I70 during normal business hours.
Well everyone I will have to be there in spirit also. The bustling economy has forced a job change and my rail fan time will be a little short for a while. But dont forget me as soon as I get my legs under me at the new job I will be there. And if you are ever out you will know me any way just look for the Blue truck with the American flag waving in the rear window. Steve [ 11. June 2004, 23:19: Message edited by: Steve Brown ]
If we came up from Albuquerque, would Jeanne be allowed in? It's six hours if I drive, or about three if MAM (Mario Andretti Momma) does. Pete
That's a good question - let's open it up. Is the consensus that we'd like to stick to the name (Gentlemens...) or is co-ed OK? If Jeanne comes, my wife may join in the fun, too. Grif, how about your better half? Too bad about Jeremiah's schedule But look at the bright side - it's a perfect excuse for another meet later this summer!
Guys, ROTFLMAO! The name as-is will be just fine with Jeanne. We both detest political correctness, as we are both writers. For heaven's sake, let's not make this an Augusta National issue. She'd be honored to be a female member of a Gentlemen's Club. In fact, it would be much better than being just a member of a Gentleperson's Club! Pete
I don't think there should be any descrimination as to gender or age or anything. We can just get together and meet some other folks who like trains. Maybe make a bimonthly thing where people show up and have a beer or soda and blab trains for a bit. NO STRESS, NO MEMBERSHIP, NO DUES. I jokingly came up with that name because of the great tradition of Colorado railroading that extends into the 1800's with narrow gauge lines and wars over right of way, etc. Of course women are welcome. It's good to get the ladies out of the house and show them a nice evening out. I thought it would be fun to meet up in a hundred year old hotel right near the station as part of that tradition and sit somewhere where countless visitors to Denver went for a drink after a long train ride. I am going to propose we get together on a day that Hemi can come down to be with us, since Hemi chimed in early on with this. I think if he's gonna drive down to hang out with us we gotta cut the guy some slack. Hemi pick a friday evening or a saturday you can make it to the DGRS and we'll go from there. All members in favor of this proposal say aye. All those agin it, jess shaddup and eat yer porridge. J/K
Aye! Although, are we members without the secret password? Guys, this is great fun! My original query about Jeanne was meant in an 1890s sort of way. We both truly appreciate Geeky's original premise. Pete (and Jeanne)
Grif, I feel honored... I am booked the 19th and 26th this month.. After that, I have no idea... How about July 10? (I need to chat about it with the 'boss' *my wife* before I can firmly say yea or nay) If ya'll wanna meet earlier(feel free!), don't feel as though I have to be there, someone can drink one for me in my absence...
Hard to look that far ahead for me; but, if it's possible I will try to make what ever date the others find agreeable.
And now, I found out at work tonight, that I get to put in some OT on the 26th! Not complaining, much. Can always use the extra $$$. Especially with the T-Motors now arriving!! Gotta get mine this Saturday! 6 down, 2 to go.
Nothing yet. Have to go pick 'em up first!! Will do that this Saturday!! Then, I can get pics of them. Maybe after some light weathering also!! We'll see. Keith
