The Mt. Rainier Scenic may take the prize for the most "stuff" in the yard. Last weekend, August 8. I don't know what happened, but for two hours, 2:30 PDT on, the site was not available. I couldn't post the photos. Did we go down?
I can't tell if it's more odds or more ends....? I assume the "Mixed Gas" was for two-cycle speeder engines. And an Outhouse that had to be anchored with telegraph poles...sure gives new meaning to "Beans"....:tb-shocked:
This rail was made by CF&I stell in Pueblo Colorado. They still make rails for Union pacific. It is now Oregon Steel. CF&I used to have their own furnace and coke plant. That is gone now. They also used to make carpentry nails and all kinds of other good stuff that is no longer available.
Kirby Yard, San Antonio, Texas More yard debris along the sidings. This is a rail with a broken footing. Looks like a lot of old photos missing in this thread.
No pictures but we found railroad ties ( twice now) in our yard. When my Grandparents built a house on the old RI&P we found some ties ( line had been torn up late 40's in this location) Then when building my house on old RI&P ,Rock Island ROW we found ties, plates, spikes and some other junk.It was at least 25 years apart and I would say the Rock never got their moneys worth form EITHER company that did the clean up.
Thanks for the heads up. I went back and fixed all my broken links. Here is a new one for me showing piles of goodies in the old yard in Durango from when I visited it back in 1972.
