Peirce, while doing duty guarding the perimeter of Brooklyn roundhouse from the Al Quaida hordes, I discovered some neat stuff.

 That the roundhouse is being attacked by rogue weeds?

How about a QTTX drop deck flat with a missing drawbar?

We could really have some fun with this one. I found it on the ground. Feel free to use it to "flag" someone or anything else you see a use for it. ;)

Here's a sign posted on the side of the Brooklyn roundhouse. Notice the disabled one beneath it? These guys have great senses of humor. :D

I like that snow plough - old tender? Do you know if they are serviceable? Interesting bogies--don't see many plain bearings around! [IMG]

Actually they have been upgraded to roller bearing.

Many railroads converted less active rolling stock with conversion wheelsets including rollerbearings in the early days of the change over.

Some still exist out there and are still in service. Rarely will you see ne of these now in interchange service due to the age of the remainder of the truck(bogie).

30-50 years ago I used to see many Bettendorf trucks that had been converted to roller bearings which were still enclosed within the original journal bearing housings. Had to look real close to see the Timken assemblies inside the journal boxes. [IMG]

A not-so-good rail joint. Just take a look at the position of the tie.

Thanks for the info on the bearings, no we don't have snowploughs, everywhere the snow is heavy enough to warrant a plough, there aren't any trains! (Big empty country)
