Thanks Mike I did check them out before but those decals are for the modern UP style and not the jneks blue otherwise I would have bid for them
Hard working MoPac GP50 no. 3502 is getting a break on my layout. Needs some minor handrail repair. This engine is a Kato shell on an Atlas GP40-2 mechanism.
Just this one and one canary GP40 converted from a UP paint job (has dynamic brakes). I am trying to get everything is some semblence of order.
Who would have thought that a Mopac topic would get to 104 replies and seven pages! Seeing them now I wish I had had some Mopac blue diesels on my old N scale layout
At least the handrail/walkway casting is available for it, though not in blue anymore. Grey and black only.
THe GP50 looks great flashg, next time you are over you might want to bring it with you for a all MOPAC operating session
Hi all. I wanted to add to your love of Mopacs. (Now remember as you view this, and repeat to yourselves, "it's yellow, but it is going to be OK". ) This is my heritage Mopac. The only GP50's UP has right now are ex-Mopac. They added dynamic brakes to 10 of them after they aquired them. This is my tribute to one of them. The reason I like the UP is because of the SP and the other fallen flags that now live on through them. Thanks for indulging me. I've enjoyed seeing all the blue, and hope to see more.
REd Rock, You know they came out in Jenks blue for approx 10 weeks before they were repainted now there is a reason to repiant it
Thanks for the nice comments on my GP50 bash. I have a few Missouri Pacific documents from the early 1950's and I wanted to share this one with you all. The paper is not in great shape but most of this scan is readable. The next time one of your trains hits a head of livestock you'll have to fill out this form. Hope you enjoy it. http://gelwood.railfan.net/mp/mp-env-csb.gif
Here are my 6 jenks blue mopacs SD40 / SD40-2's with the two newly painted at the front. I also have the 2 canary yellow Sd50's that arent shown here.
I kit bashed this engine for a friend years ago and forgot about it. He was running it on the club layout today so had to grab a few shots. He showed me some photos of an Alco that MP had repowered with EMD guts. It had a strange manifold with spark arrestors and two EMD style fans on the end of the hood.
OK.......Nice looking units from every one!! Now, what time frame do folks model the MP?? For anyone interested, I have the following to offer: Missouri Pacific System timetable No. 21 Effective 12:01AM Sunday, Nov 13, 1983 I'll see if I can get a quick photo or two. I'd scan part of it, but computer that scanner is connected to needs all the help it can get right now! In excellent shape. Contact off list if interested.
