Looks like an ex-KCS, Lettered for CN, sub-lettered for Grand Trunk Western, stenciled 'Owned by Alsom'.
Ron, Great shots! Seems like there should be more schemes than we have already. What about more fallen flag schemes? Anyone have any good ones?
Thanks guys. I figured since the ex CNW loco/now DGNO was mentioned above a photo of it would be appropriate.
sorry I cant get my other photos to post. I'll try again later. [ 11. December 2004, 18:16: Message edited by: txronharris ]
This is sort-of an SD40-2, this is a class 59 loco, EMD built, with a 16-645 and running on modified SD40-2 trucks... One of 14 machines running around the UK, with a further one working in Germany at present, these were built in five batches for three operators between the mid 80's and the mid 90's. Here 59005, bought by Foster Yeoman and now operated by Mendip Rail, brings an empty stone train into Westbury station.
You need to hae pics uploaded to a website or to a gallery like www.railimages.com then you can post them here
They are rated at 3000hp from a 16-645 engine, so I would call them an SD40-2 just for that! However most (all?) were built after SD40-2 production finished, so the closest thing EMD/GMD had under construction at the time was probably the SD50. I think EMD called them JT26CW-SS, which doesn't help much! For the technically minded: http://www.therailwaycentre.com/Tech%20data%20pages/Class%2059.html
While we on this subject,DRGW had a number of tunnel mtrs upgraded with 'wheel slip control' & started classing them as SD50's.
