Here are a few more.............. C&O (aka CSXT) 8393 CEFX 3090 C&NW (aka UP) 6931....This is one of my favorite pics. NS (ex CR) 3388 and FURX 3026
Those FURX units don't look bad at all. The green is somewhat similar to what the old Illinois Terminal used. Boxcab E50
Not quite an SD40-2, but what the hey?? This is an SD40R rebuild by Morrison-Knudsen in the 1980s, leased to MKT. SHot this and its two sister rebuilds at Parsons, KS back in 1985.
One can find SD45-2s on the point of BNSF rock trains here thru Sherman, or down in east Texas on the Timber Rock RR. Dallas, Garland & Northeaster has two SD45-2s leased from Helm; both are ex-CSX, nee SCL units. They're used mostly on the Royse City rock trains on the ex-MKT between Bells & Royse City, TX. I agree with Hemi- finding an SD45-2 anywhere in service is a great catch! Lenny53: Is that diesel what railfans call the Red Barns? That's a nice shot!!

Believe it or not, that very same diesel (6931) is now oqnws by CEFX, and has been on lease to DGNO. It's been here in Sherman quite often, and is still in CNW colors & numbering, with CEFX lettering in a red oval on the battery box door.
Great stuff, thanks for posting! Since we're gonna runoutta SD40-2's, maybe we can start posting SD45's? BTW, what's the difference between a 'Draper Taper' and a 'Red Barn'?
The 'Draper Taper' feature is where the carbody slopes inwards behind the cab to provide some backwards visibilty. It was used on MLW HR616, GE C40-8M and GMDD SD40-2F, SD50F and SD60F. Mr. Draper worked for the CNR.
Jason: How far was that caterpillar truck going to go with that load? Really impressive size for a highway!!
I don't think we've seen this scheme yet. I'm guessing this might be a dash 2 internally??? A stretch, I know.
Here is an engine that was on the point of a CSX train this morning. I believe it is a dash 2 on the inside. I don't think we've seen this scheme yet?
