I am very sorry to share the news that Bob Woods passed away Wednesday, October 12. Bob's wife, Carol, called me late today to say that Bob's 3-week fight with a brain hemorrage, complicated by pneumonia, a blood infection, and kidney failure, led to his passing away Wednesday morning. 'LongTrain' was an enthusiastic contributor to the hobby, and shared many posts on this forum. I always enjoyed his enthusiasm for N scale and the unique niche he carved for himself. I respected his considerable knowledge. Bob had an innate generosity, and a great desire to help others with no self-interest. He had a big heart, and will be greatly missed. God bless, LongTrain, we thank you for what you've brought our way in your generous consist of friendship. The Arizona Outlaws http://members.cox.net/vgniner/vgn-page-outlaws.htm will ride on, one fewer in number, but glad for the time we shared. Here's Bob (left) with Pete Nolan, during a visit to my layout in August. Good times! - Verne Niner [ October 13, 2005, 08:58 AM: Message edited by: Warbonnet-Fan ]

I only had the opportunity of knowing Bob through our numerous email conversations. I got the impression of a man very passionate for the hobby & as you said Verne, very generous & a big heart. I for one will miss our chats on everything RR. My sincere condolences to his wife & family.
This is really sad news. Shared numerous emails and although we never met, it was like I knew him personally. Really sad. My condoences to the family.
I'm also sorry to hear of Bob's passing, he was one of the good guys. It was Bob who alerted me once to a Mopac caboose I was looking for , that was the type of guy he was always wanting to assist others. Whenever those red MoPac cabeese go wandering by all always have a thought for Bob. My condolences to his family
As much as he suffered from various disorders during the last few months of his life, it is at least comforting to know that he now suffers no more. Prayers to his family from Wyoming......rest in peace, Long Train.
This is indeed sad news, Verne. Condolences to Carol and family for thier loss. Bob will be missed by all that were touched by him.
I have briefly conversed with LongTrain from time to time over the last few years. This is indeed very sad news. Rest in peace and God bless the family.
Here is a great pic to remember Bob by. Here he is showing off his berkshire that was a Christmas present.
My heart goes out to his family. Bob helped me out in finding out the makers of some of the old equipment I have. He went out of his way to photograch old cardboard inserts to show me the maker and model numbers. This from someone he never knew, What a guy. He wiil be missed! MOPHEAD
Another great loss to the hobby. Try to look at the positives.. He was a great man in his hobby, someone people looked up to. Something we all wished for. He had a great live, he had a great time in his hobby with great friends and touched people all over the world - some he would have never met. He has a loving immediate family who would really be hurting right now as we all are, an 'Internet family' and a 'Hobby Family' of friends... but I do have the feeling most would be happy he is now resting and out of pain. This is not meant to be harsh, crude, or nasty, but to me, with the problems he had recently it was going to happen. Sadly the cards were really not going his way, which is cruel sometimes. He is now out of pain and probably running on a 4000ft x 3000ft DCC N scale Layout with full float around, lookin down on us smiling, with some locos and rolling stock we could only dream of, and happily running some LONGTRAINS , pulled by the likes of that Berkshire above... Farewell Bob Woods - You will be missed.
