Birmingham AL. Found this on a 3.5 inch floppy disc earlier today. I remember the picture but not scanning it. No info at hand but I probably have it somewhere. If I had to guess, early 90's maybe early 1991 since the flag looks very clean
Flora, IL on the B&O sometime in the 1930s and during my visit in 1990. The drumhead reads National Limited, the B&O's all-Pullman train serving between Jersey City, NJ (New York via ferry), Washington, DC and St. Louis. The station was built in 1917 and has been renovated since I was there.
I found a picture of the Flora, IL station in 2017 after renovation/restoration. David Cantrell photo from the "Southern Illinois Railroads" website. Doug
It was actually a B&O/B&O crossing. Mostly gone today, the north/south line was once quite lengthy, ranging from Beardstown, IL to the lower reaches of the state. A railroad called the Prairie Trunk made a go of operating the line, but it shut in the mid 1980s.
LV freight station at Flemington, NJ in 1956 and in 2017 during a visit there. Flemington was reached via a 1.7 mile branch from the mainline at Flemington Junction. Passenger service on the branch was provided with a gas electric car until 1952. Near this freight station stood a lovely passenger station which met its demise a few years after passenger service ended. [See next post] Timetable from November 1920:
Flemington's LV passenger station. Flemington was also served by branches of the CNJ and PRR. Their depots survive, the CNJ's beautifully restored by a bank and the PRRs modified and hidden by other structures as I recall.
Lambertville, NJ on the PRR long ago and during a 1976 visit. The station dates from the 1850s and was beautifully renovated years ago into an upscale restaraunt. The railroad is inactive today, although the Black River & Western is working to restore the service it once provided into the latter 1980s.
BN 1393's sister, the 1397, renumbered BNSF 1497 (built Sep 1977, retired Aug 2009), in Cheyenne, WY, around 2004-2005:
The proud EP-3s were a common sight hauling passengers through Greenwich and Stamford, CT stations until replaced by EP-4s.
