Oh No, first diesel replaces steam. Now PURPLE replaces my gorgeous New Hampshire orange maple and red oak fall colors. Oh, the blaspheme.
Another thread had a pic of an old L&N camp car and it made it to Railfan Photos of the Week this week as well. I've always (Well, maybe only since I was 3 years old) thought those camp cars were cool. It's a picture of a picture but anyway, that's me checking out the camp cars in the in Feb. 1968 on a siding in Graysville GA Thanks @Hardcoaler for bring back some good memories
Not sure when the change was made to Technicolor rolling stock. Maybe it coincided with the introduction of the bio-fueled diesel locos?
The steam locos are still used between late May and early October. However, most of those trips are usually in the early morning or mid-to-late afternoon. Were I planning to visit there this coming summer, I'd want to book one of the Saturday trips that leave at about 11:30AM.
