Sure was when I rode it in 3/08. BTW, Russell, how did the Lionel layout survive the hurricane that hit that area, Isaac, IIRC?
Both the layouts at the Galveston Museum were destroyed when Hurricane Ike flooded the buildings with at least 5 feet of storm surge water. With FEMA money, they have been working hard to recover and rebuild a lot of the exhibits, but some things just have to be trashed. It is really not a good location for a museum even in good times. The outdoor rolling stock collection is constantly being exposed to the corrosive sea air and rusts very quickly. Throw in a bath in sea water every time you get a hurricane and it just shoves the process into overdrive.
Rotten shame about the Lionel collection. My family owned many in the collection before we switched to HO in '47, e.g. Flying Yankee (my favorite), GG-1 w/Madison cars, and the Hudson (forgot its number, but preWW-II).
Texas State Railroad, at the engine house in Rusk, Texas. A General Pershing Class 2-8-0. Here it is in Palestine, Texas.
Here is a train order when 300 was owned by the Tremont & Gulf. Copied at Sikes, Louisiana, as their #28. It's a bit faint, but better than nothing:
Had us a bit of snow yesterday. All day! So here sat the 9078 and 8727 waiting on a crew at the west end of the main looking like Christmas.
Came across this today! Could not get shot(s) in town, no media card in camera! installed card, the caught train at Highland, about 2 miles south of Berthoud. A wonderful day, about 37* with light rain/snow mix. Hoped to catch in Ft Collins. road work, and a lost walking cane put a stop to that! Wouldnt have gotten far enough ahead from that point. Lead: Mid: Trailing: Was originally planning to grab the Longmont Local instead, consisting of an SD40-2 and an SD60M. This was unexpected, and MUCH better!!
And this is what I saw in Longmont, and eventually caught in Loveland. Had to stop back at home, and grab my camera. Freight train, led by 3 Canadian National GE's and 4 BNSF GE's.
Nice catch, alougth I don't think the second is a Ge! Maybe a sd70i, much better catch than a GE, much more rare!
