Early morning ground fog outside of Hearne, Texas eight years ago. Low sun glinting off the crossing gate.
OOOH! That's cool! (coal? ) I'll play too... Cumbres & Toltec, Antonito, CO. I hope this guy has a gas mask on...
If you ignore the radio control unit decals on the nose, this looks like an SD40-2 leading a technotoaster in 2020 on the mainline. The set was doing some work in downtown Minot, perhaps retrieving bad-ordered cars for repair back at Gavin Yard. The Danger sign dates back to BN, and probably is Cascade Green paint, although heavily weathered.
From almost exactly 30 years ago (04/21/1990), a neat little former NC&StL section house at Cowan, TN and a passing freight.
I finally got a chance to see one of the many CN 100 Anniversary units on the M338. He was second out. Also in the train was the IC 3107, guessing it is going east to another assignment. April 15, 2020 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
"Numbers" Working in a radio control locomotive set retrieving bad ordered cars, this veteran Geep is still in original BNSF H1 paint. The March 1972-built St Louis-San Francisco GP38-2 674 lost its Frisco Orange and bold "FRISCO" heralds for Cascade Green (still peeking out at the long hood sight glass) and traded it for BNSF Heritage 1 paint many years ago. The nerd in me liked the numerical order road number. A sister unit in snazzy paint is seen here: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=2622797
It has no NC&StL markings unfortunately and reads only with excessive wording "NOTICE All Persons Are Warned Not To Trespass On The Grounds Or Tracks".
Cool photos! Love the character in that little section building. Great view of the train coming off a grade and taking siding.
