Between Grand Jinction and Ogden, IA yesterday. Fuel truck busily adding go juice on the main. There is a second train directly behind this guy. Would really like to know the story behind this one.
Two trains fueling? Different, that's for certain. I have seen it where one needed a truck, as it ran out. Someone forgot to fuel it and the crew failed to check. A single unit, it stalled on a rural road crossing... Handy, but locals blocked weren't thrilled.
Russel, that's a great photograph of that trackwork and tower undoubtedly predating all that elevated roadwork by many years. Doug
Pair of switchers at the Boone Scenic. They were shutdown for Christmas, so didn't get to see much, but these are neat old things. I did get to hear the Alco burbling along one year when I was here.
Doug I like my sense of humor. I've never tried to analyze it! But I suppose Droll fits the bill! I really like a good pun. Especially the long ones. Jim
The (G) OOD CHEER. Our next project. First up is to get the underside sand blasted and repainted. Then put it on the rebuilt trucks waiting for it. Then exterior painting, windows and the interior.
Two neat shots of graffiti-free shortline wood chip hoppers taken by a friend in Selma, AL last week.
For those of you modeling modern small town prairie skyscrapers, here's the one at Ralston, IA. It is still a substantial operation, with two siding tracks and a large bit of real estate!
Was waiting on a train at Carroll, IA on 30 Dec, and spent time checking out the depot. Spent some hours here growing up waiting for trains to watch! Was glad to see it preserved. And then the empty stack train came blowing through!
