Those four-wheelers look a little insecure. I wonder how many tipped onto their noses when all passengers and crew were forward of the front wheels? Quote the Conductor: "Awright, a few of you folks please move to the rear...S L O W L Y."
It's supposed to be the largest railcar. The Kasgro Schnaubel WECX 801. 36 axles, 231 feet long, weighs 400 tons, the load limit is over 1,000 tons and it took over a year to build. The pics were taken at Kasgro's yard about a year ago.
That's great. I was so sure you were going to say something like, "No, it was torn down 30 years ago." Such is the case with old, ornate stations, like the Milwaukee Road Station in Milwaukee. Doug

In May of 1967, while visiting Saipan in the Mariana Islands, I saw this old Japanese 0-4-0 stuffed and mounted on a hillside south of the town of Garapan. I found an old photo of what it looked like while in service hauling sugar cane from the fields to the sugar mill sometime before WWII.
