Scott, Robert, Thank you very much. I used Tamiya spray paints (roof and lower belt - grey). It is easy with roof due to the fact that it is a separate part. The main part of body was painted using spray paint. The colour is "custom-made" both for the railway as well as for myself. I ordered it at the small shop preparing custom spray paint for the car painting purposes. I try to keep my decals easy to apply - sometimes they are bigger than just letters and symbols. The decal is bigger but there is less work applying them. On this wagons I used this technique as well. You can see how it is designed on the photo below: This also saves time with painting and masking ... I finalized the second PKP-IC wagon - the whole set is ready now: In most cases this train was pulled by EP07 locomotive: On the non-electrified trucks SU46 was used (I replaced it with SP47 - very similar locomotive):
I started work on next two wagons. They are 1st class wagons with slightly different paint scheme. There is some more detailed report of work done. The main body is spray painted with three colours. The basic colour (almost white) and darker doors. There is some Tamiya tape masking necessary: Two colours were applied- there is still third one to be dome - the lower belt will be painted gray: The windows inserst were darkened using self-adhesive foil for car tuning. I applied wthe whole strip and cut it in places necessary for roof pins. To make the wagoon looking more accurate and detaile I added "rubber seals" in doors. They are decals. I used black separation lines from the decal sheet. You can see my technique of working with decals. I use wet cosmetic pads instead of dish with water. I think it is much more secure technique. Comparison of two bodies - with and without the lines. I think it is worth to spend some time with those details. To be continued ...
Repainting roof is easy - one do not have to do any masking: Some detail according to the prototype were added: It is tricky to apply lines indicating class (1st - yellow, 2nd - green). One must be carefull - the strip is long and thin. In case you pull too strong it can be destroyed:
Decals on sides were added: The ends of wagon were hand painted: Two pieces were made: Together with second class wagons:
This time I finished a bit older production. PKP type 609A baggage car. The main body is 3D printed: The windows and wheelsets were taken from standard Marklin wagon. Final look:
I returned to some old project. This is EN57 EMU. It is the most popular EMU of Polish Railways ever. I finishe the middle unit with pantographs. I had to make more space inside the front unit to have enough space to accomodate Shorty engine. I still have a problem with the coupler. The connecting bar is vibrating up and down while the model is in motion as the result both part uncouple very easily. Pushin works perfect. Pulling is a problem...
