If you look close this SP appears to be un-patched. I have to pause the picture posting for dinner. More photos to come in a bit! Ben
This concluded our tour of the yard so we headed back to Cody Park. Our son tried out the hand brake display. Ben
Now were off to see the 844. We were in luck because the had her fired up for the media and the whistle blew numerous times! Ben
Ben, thanks for those. 844 was sure steaming. I like the looks of Challenger 3977 in Greyhound paint, and obviously well cared for. UP does a great job with their steam crew. :tb-biggrin:
WINNER!!!!!!! Yep, finally got a chance to meet Ben as part of an "October Outing" (Blog coming soon) and got his wife to get a shot of the two of us together down at the depot.
LOL! It was a good meet! I look forward to chasing a train or two with you when we have more time. Ben
Sorry to go back a couple months, but I'm catching up today and I find this shot interesting. I didn't think there were many 48' wells left in service much less ones in SP paint. It's always nice to have your modelling compromises confirmed by the prototype.
Dragging another one up from the depths. I assume this was an interlocking and controlled access to/from the steel bridge. This is on the south side of the station not the north. Towards Chinatown and the Pearl District (which is built on the old SP&S yard.) It currently holds the PNW chapter of the National Railroad Historical Society. Also, it's good to see the Holstein geep being saved, I have a picture from her last year at the POTB yard as the SD9s around here were being scrapped. Still, seeing her like that just brings it home that the railroad is no more. I remember seeing her moving revenue generating loads in Banks 8 years ago.
Thanks for the answer on the building!I was sure glad to see the Holstein geep still together. I wish that I could have seen her when she was in revenue service. Ben
Let's head out to the Golden Spike Tower for some daytime shots! These were on display in the parking lot when we pulled up. Ben
It was a nice surprise to see this coach painted up that they moved to the tower several years ago. I look at the diesel shop from the parking lot. Ben
