Ah. I was right. (Amazing?) Couldn't remember some of the stuff we used in sheet metal, when I was building real freight cars.

    Cover That Thing Up!!

Well, I started the roof this three day, in between write up and family time. I began trying out black foam board, but that just did not seem right, so back to the drawing board...by board....by board...

All roof sections are removable. I will create "tar paper" next weekend for the first section. Any suggestions? I don't like tissue, texture is not right. I have some thin construction paper?? After all the board on board I would hate to screw it up with the wrong paper!!

Just curious here, but did you ever post a track plan of your layout? I'd love to see one.

What about an autobody type sandpaper? Wet/dry. Perhaps 1600 grit?

I haven't scanned the drawing yet, but hope to have my scanner up again soon. I will probably post it here and in the Layout discussion as I would like comment. I already see some problems with some of the layout that will need to change to make operation smooth.

Yeah I was thinking along those lines too, there is some really fine stuff out there. My brother-in-law just happens to be a paint and body man for Ford, SOOOOoooooo maybe I can get a deal on some ;)

    The Roof is On

Well, the wood is on. Well over 500 individual pieces in this roof...next will be the lead sheeting around the edges then tar paper.
